State of play: During their remarks to the press last week, Trump told MBS he will supply Saudi Arabia with the same advanced model of the F-35 fighter jets that Israel has, despite pushback from the Israelis.

This is best expressed as disappointment and annoyance. The president desperately wants them to join the Abraham Accords. He did his best to convince MBS. It was a frank discussion. But Mohammed bin Salman is a strong man. He stuck to his guns, the source said.

Mohammed bin Salman demanded that Israel, in exchange for any peace agreement with Saudi Arabia, agree to an “irreversible, credible, and time-bound path” to the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Mohammed bin Salman made this clear publicly after the meeting.
