Uchar Bridge – New KKH, Upper Kohistan
A major development on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) near Dassu, Upper Kohistan, the Uchar Bridge is now nearing completion.
The bridge crosses Uchar Nallah and forms part of the new/relocated KKH alignment associated with the Dasu Hydropower Project.
The project became particularly important after the old Uchar crossing was severely affected by the devastating floods of 2022, disrupting traffic and highlighting the need for a stronger and safer route. Once completed and opened to traffic, it will provide a safer and more reliable passage along this strategically important section of the KKH.
A significant piece of infrastructure for Upper Kohistan and the communities along the KKH—and another step toward improving connectivity between Kohistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
