I don't know what was he thinking before attacking Ukraine. What I say now, Russia is nearing bankruptcy and Russia is left with the only and most lethal part of its inventory. And I am afraid, Russia is about to use it.
We might soon see mushrooms clouds over Europe.

Putin was arrogant enough to think he could just walk into Ukraine and they would surrender or be overpowered in 3 days.

US interest was always cut any relation between Russia and EU and the ABM bases was fantastic for such task.
