DeepSeek, China's AI model: News & Discussion

Calm down and let’s not raise our blood pressure…….

LOL! Aren't you the one who quickly jumped off the handle with your initial serious reply to my sarcastic remarks about lying in my replies?

"Zizheng was one of our interns at NVIDIA back in summer 2023. Later, when we were considering to make him a FT offer, he chose to join DeepSeek without much hesitance. Back then, the DeepSeek multimodal team only has 3 people.

I am still very much impressed by Zizheng’s decision at that time. He has been an important contributor of several important works at DeepSeek, including DeepSeek-VL2, DeepSeek-V3, and DeepSeek-R1. I am personally very happy for his decision and the great achievements.

Zizheng’s case is a very typical example of what I have witnessed in recent years. Many of our best talents come from China, and these talents don’t have to succeed only in a US company. Instead, we learn a lot from them. The same Sputnik Moment has already happened in AV back in 2022, and it will continue to happen in Robotics and LLM industry as well.

I love NVIDIA and want to see her as a continued major contributor to the path of AGI and general autonomy. But if we keep cooking up geo-political agendas and creating hostile opinions to Chinese researchers, we will shoot ourselves in the foot and lose even more competitiveness. We need more talent density, professionalism, learnings, creativity and stronger execution. We don’t need political narratives and clowns like Alexandr Wang"

Aaaaaaaah - so when you are called out - it becomes sarcasm? The American dream has taught you well. Now remain calm and stick to the topic. Chinese again over achieve and Americans left holding the baby.

Kudos to the Chinese company for this remarkable achievement! Advancements in AI ultimately stand to benefit all of humanity.

That said, I find it amusing that some members here view this as a step towards the West’s decline. Let’s not forget that the foundational science and research underpinning these developments have seen significant contributions from the West. While China excels at making innovations more cost-effective and commercially viable, it didn’t invent AI. Rather, it’s doing an excellent job of shaping the future.

However, we should also recognize the societal implications of these advancements. As AI progresses, human labor may lose much of its value, leading to significant social disruptions within our lifetime. Yet, this upheaval could pave the way for a better society—one where technology ensures a basic standard of living for all, freeing humanity to truly enjoy life.

So, congratulations again to the Chinese team on this achievement. But let’s also use this as an opportunity to think about the long-term reshaping of society. Perhaps when human labor is no longer central to the economy, ideas like true socialism might become more viable.

Australian media is working overtime to attack Deepseek.
  • It will give your data to the CCP
  • It will feed you CCP propaganda
  • National security
  • Freedumb!
  • Think of the children! the children!
The panic is palpable, LOL.

Xi's signature coming to office program "Maade In China 2025".

"Made in China 2025" was launched in 2015 by Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Explanation: This initiative, considered a key industrial policy, aims to transform China's manufacturing sector from producing low-cost goods to developing high-tech industries like electric vehicles and renewable energy.

This is why that DeepSeek became the top downloaded APP in Apple store, people need balanced views and are growing tired of western narratives.

DeepSeek on the Uighurs in China:..not exactly taking sides with the official Chinese narrative...which is very very interesting

And Chinese AI knows that politics are all about different prespectives and refuses to tell blatant lies like its western counterpart.
By simply avoiding answering or offering an opinion? This is our future with Chinese advanced AI? Systems programed to not answer? Great...we're doomed.

Quoting balanced accounts from both sides and refusing to take biased personal stand, what's wrong with it?

Overnight the panic is reflected in the market panicking - wiping billions off the value. Find some popcorn and relax and watch the fun

Already explained, politics are all about perspectives, refusing to take sides is better than blatant lying like its western counterpart, it's a scientific tool, not a political tool.

Did you read its last sentence about how it pointed out there have been restrictions on independent reporting in that area..which goes directly against your PDF Xinjiang posts.

Even DeepSeek is smart enough to acknowledge that the Chinese Government is controlling the narrative and we have to take the "official" view of what is happening with a grain of salt.

No one saying that you goblin, how can they be in decline when they are arguably ahead lol

However, after all your uncompromising praise of the Indian worker, Indian genius, the inevitability of Indian superiority your press is only left feeling salty and empty....oh what about tiananmen 🙄

"May" not be... It just gives a balanced unbiased account for all sources but refuses to take a stand on it, unlike its western counterpart putting much effort in telling unsupported lies as facts.

Note restriction comes in many forms - not providing an answer (like DeepSeek on certain subjects) is one; giving a heavily biased answer (eg ChatGPT on Israel-Palestine related content) is another. Like I said Uyghurs genocide is not real but gaza genocide is there for the world to see. To me no answer is better than woke answers 😂 instead of repeating the same Western propaganda, show me the real footage of uyghurs genocide and mass graves! If there's a genocide happening in Xinjiang, then why are there 37,232 mosques in China? 24,400 are in Xinjiang, many are ancient. Uyghurs population in Xinjiang in 2000 was 8.1 million and 11 million as of today. How is it possible for a population to grow under a genocide? lol these dumb Americans pls make it make sense to me
