Morocco obtains a SATCOM communications satellite from Thales​

The Moroccan company Panafsat and Thales Alenia Space, the joint venture between the Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%) groups, announced the signing of a “protocol agreement for the construction of a Moroccan satellite communications system. The purpose of this project is to provide high-speed connectivity to 26 African countries , including 23 Francophones, to address a population of more than 550 million people distributed over an area of 12 million km².

The protocol of agreement was signed today between the Moroccan operator, Navsat, and Thales Alenia Space, as part of the official visit of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, to the Kingdom of Morocco, in the presence of Nadia Fattah Alaoui, Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance, and Antoine Armand, French Minister of Economy, Finance and Industry.

Thales Alenia Space will be responsible for building a flexible satellite with very high performance. Once deployed, the satellite will provide high-speed internet connectivity to accelerate the transformation of the digital landscape of the African continent by providing the essential connectivity to develop high-value services for governments, businesses and citizens, while addressing the digital divide in rural and remote areas.

Among the deals and agreements signed between the two countries
A contract was signed to supply a communications satellite from Thales
The satellite will enable Morocco to benefit from several weapons, such as drones, suicide planes, rocket launchers, and other weapons that require a communications satellite to increase their operational range.

Morocco succeeds in developing a suicide drone with a range of 1,500 km

The P2 drone, manufactured by the Moroccan company Ballistic Defense System, was displayed on the sidelines of the Marrakech Air Show 2024.

The drone has a range of 1,500 km and a warhead weighing 40 kg.


The Moroccan suicide drone project 🇲🇦 P-2 is developed by a Moroccan company called Ballistic Defense System, founded by a group of Moroccan experts residing abroad who decided to return to establish their company in Rabat in 2023. It includes engineers and contractors who studied and worked at NASA and ancient Western universities and accumulated great experience in Their specialties.

The competencies that ensure the development of the company’s projects specialize in artificial intelligence (AI), embedded electronic systems, and aerospace engineering.

The Moroccan suicide drone is capable of reaching a range of 1,500 km and carrying a warhead weighing up to 40 kg.

The company was founded by Moroccan engineers graduated from European and American universities.

The company is developing 3 different drones:

P1 with a range of 500 km
P2 with a range of 1500 km
The P3 is under development with a larger range
This is only from Ballistic Defense System.

There are also two new Moroccan companies that displayed their suicide drones: X-AR, which displayed a “kamikaze” suicide drone with a range of 500 kilometers, and Aerodrive as well.

There are three Moroccan companies that revealed suicide drones
The Moroccan company BDS reveals a suicide drone with a range of 50 km and an explosive payload of 6 kg, a second version with a range of 1,500 km and an explosive payload of 40 kg, and a third long-range version for coordination.
