Targeting what? With what goal? And what comes after?
What about Head Quarters of Mossad or members of mossad ? Since they did the assasinations - would be appropriate and self contained and will send a good message to the organisation that did this?
Or the Airforce headquarters since they did a strike on Iran ?
If Iran wants to leave an economic mark on Israel and also give the Americans a middle finger at the same time - why not destroy all of Intels factories in Israel ? Yes - a civilian target - but that never seems to hold Israel back ?!?
Lots of military targets. All with logic that follows on from what Israel has done. And they can be argued from a legitimate perspective as a retaliative response.
The question is of course - is Iran prepared to exchange blows ? ie the escalation ladder - or has Israel successfully deterred Iran as it seems ( but not the other way around ! ). By every measure, it looks like Iran is now deterred.
And that is fine - but what are the lessons learnt for the Iranian goverment? How do they find themselves in a situation where all there choices are so constrained, and their capabilities are so ineffective against Israel ?
Iran has simply made no preparations for any escalatory ladder against Israel even though it has been such a pivotal force in the axis of resistence. It is simply unprepared for war. It is shocking (well to me at least ).
What ever you say about Pakistan, you can be sure of the fact that they are prepared for war with India - every day ... When Pakistan responded to India during 2019 - it did so quickly. Deterrence has been re-established and now India has a much large hurdle to jump over if it tries to do something like it again. India outclasses Pakistan in all metrics, but India is deterred as that deterrence has been maintained.
Look at how quickly Pakistan responded to the missile strikes against Iran. Pakistan did that with the full view that Iran could have escalated and the two would have to trade blows ,but it did it anyway. Iran wont try something like that again. Deterrence has been established.
