Why did Egypt sacrifice the Sukhoi and Chengdu fighters for the Falcon jet?

View attachment 167850

Military reports revealed a pivotal shift in Egypt's arms strategy, as Cairo moved towards consolidating the "unmanned air doctrine" at the expense of major manned fighter deals.

This shift comes after a noticeable decline in the deals for Chinese (J-10C) and Russian (Su-35) aircraft, crowning this trend with a strategic deal to acquire the jet attack march (WJ-700) known as "The Falcon".

First: The specifications of the “Falcon” (WJ-700)... the silent killer from Beijing

The deal signed in June 2025, valued at approximately $400 million, is a technological leap beyond traditional Wing Loong generations. The march has deadly capabilities that include:

  • Jet propulsion: Turbojet engine gives it a swoop speed of up to 700 km/h.
  • High altitude: A flight ceiling of up to 15,000 meters (50,000 feet), which puts it beyond the range of most short- and medium-range defense systems.
  • Sustainability and lethality: Survival in the air for 20 hours with an armament payload weighing 800 kg, including (CM-102) missiles to suppress air defenses, (C-705KD) anti-ship missiles, and guided bombs for heavily fortified targets.

Second: Superiority over the Akıncı and penetrating the Turkish market.

Despite the Egyptian-Turkish rapprochement and interest in the Akıncı (Akıncı) process, the Egyptian need for "jet speed" and the ability to penetrate quickly tipped the balance in favor of the Chinese (WJ-700), which gives the Air Force the advantage of rapid response in complex operational theaters.

Third: The local manufacturing revolution (EDEX 2025 outputs)

Egyptian ambitions did not stop at imports, as the EDEX 2025 exhibition witnessed sovereign announcements about the localization of drone technology:

  • “Hamza-2” project: joint development with the Chinese “Norinco” to transform the platform (ASN-209) into an attack aircraft with quantitative local production.
  • “Jabbar” family: Launching 100% Egyptian suicide and attack drones, most notably the Jabbar 250 jet, which employs advanced Egyptian guidance techniques to confront non-typical threats.
  • Technical continuity: Continue developing the “NOT” and “June 30” projects for specialized reconnaissance and training missions.

Fourth: Why did Egypt choose the “robot army”?

Experts believe that this transformation stems from 4 strategic motives:

  • Loosening restrictions: Chinese technology provides Cairo with political flexibility away from Washington’s conditions related to “military balance.”
  • War Economics: The cost of operating a squadron of 10 aircraft (WJ-700) is equivalent to the cost of one fifth-generation fighter, with “zero” human risk.
  • Security of the Straits and Borders: The jet speed of the new drones is necessary to monitor the Red Sea and the Suez Canal and secure the vast Libyan borders against high-speed moving targets.

By the end of 2025, Egypt had established itself as a dominant regional power in the field of unmanned aviation with more than 480 diverse aircraft, in a move that compensates for the shortage of conventional fighters and achieves effective strategic deterrence at a smart cost.
I will actually flip shit if they cancel the Chinese deal

AKINCI is a different type of UCAV to compare with WJ-700
WJ-700 has only advantage its speed ( because of jet engined )

WJ-700 doesnt have AESA Radar and air to air combat capability
also WJ-700 has limited strike capability with 35 km C704-KD and 100 km CM-102 Missiles
( PATRIOT , S300 , S400 , SIPER Block2 , DAVID SLING's , HQ-9 AD Systems can hit WJ-700 )

and WJ-700 with 35 km C704KD Missile wont survive against Warships

On the other hand
AKINCI UCAV can hunt WJ-700 , Thanks to MURAD-100 AESA Radar and 100-180 km GOKDOGAN - GOKBORA air to air Missiles

AKINCI UCAV has 2 times more payload capability to carry superior Missiles like

150+ km IHA-230 supersonic Missile (speed of mach 3+) .... to hit AD Systems
150+ km CAKIR cruise Missile ( RF+IIR seeker ) land attack /anti-ship
150+ km KUZGUN-TJ modular strike Missile ( RF seeker ) for anti-radiation role
275 km SOM-J stealth Cruise Missile ( IIR seeker ) land attack /anti-ship
500+ km 300-ER air launched Ballistic Missile ( TV seeker ) to hit everything

also AKINCI UCAV armed with
50+ km MAM-T IIR ( IIR seeker ) land attack /anti-ship
60+ km IHA-82 KG ( RF seeker ) anti-ship role with 230 kg warhead
80 km TOLUN-IIR ( IIR seeker ) land attack /anti-ship
100 km EREN ( IIR seeker ) land attack /anti-ship
100 km KEMANKES-1 ( E/O Camera seeker )
150 km KEMANKES-2 ( E/O Camera seeker )
700 km SUPER LIGHTNING ( E/O Camera seeker )

And AKINCI is coming to become the first UAV in the world to carry ASOJ-234U long range radar and communications jamming system to escort other UCAVs for SEAD-DEAD role

Come on, boy!

As usual, these are stupid, provocative comparisons, an attempt to portray Turkish superiority and force Egyptians to cooperate with the Turks based on this illusion of Turkish dominance. But there are far more important matters.

Firstly, Egypt already possesses several aircraft with a numerical advantage, including 18 CH-5s, 24 CH-5Cs, and 76 Wing Loong A/Ds. A Russian source announced the specifications of the Egyptian aircraft, the drone 6th October , The drone's specifications have not been disclosed, but experts estimate its takeoff weight to be as high as 3,000 kg. To improve aerodynamic performance, the aircraft is equipped with retractable landing gear. Its maximum flight speed is approximately 260 km/h. Its cruising speed is 140-180 km/h. Its service ceiling is 6,000 m. stating its payload capacity of 1 ton of weapons and its entry into actual production in 2025.

https://en.topwar.ru/275256-bespilotnye-letatelnye-apparaty-vooruzhennyh-sil-egipta.html

There's also a deal for 24 CH-9D aircraft equipped with the YJ-21E missile. We're talking about what's already in service, not dreams or future plans like the Turks'.
1767177955201.png
The WJ-700 aircraft has been in service for a year, and there's a complete technology transfer program. The latest version of the second batch has better specifications, including a maximum takeoff weight of 4 tons, a payload of 1 ton of weapons, speed 800 km and an endurance of up to 24 hours. It will undergo redevelopment and redesign programs, perhaps renamed JABBAR 1000, and local manufacturing of the aircraft's original radar with a range of 100 kilometers. China is already superior to the Turks in AESA radars. You always try to be clever by announcing anything in testing as being in service and that Turkey has huge stockpiles of them, which is a blatant lie that no one can believe. You need to learn some honor and credibility. These ridiculous comparisons rely on trying to give the Turks an advantage. The munitions for Egyptian drones are diverse because they are produced in cooperation with many local and foreign sources, such as China, Pakistan, Serbia, Belarus, and Russia. The Turks themselves are trying to market their aerial munitions.

1767178051030.png

Algeria shoot down Mali’s newly acquired Akinci Drone

Firstly, the Chinese develop their munitions faster than the Turks, and their variety is much greater. China is a superpower. For example, the CM-100AK missile has a range of over 125 kilometers. The aircraft integrates many different types of munitions, so what is being promoted is general munitions. In 2021, while other munitions such as the TL-30 and TL-20, as well as various Egyptian munitions, were being integrated into it, how can you compare things you know nothing about?

The AKANCI aircraft, a disastrous air disaster, had three shot down in Sudan, one shot down by the Kurds in Turkey, one shot down on the Malian-Algerian border, and one shot down in Somalia. Its price is inflated. China announced that the FK-2000 system was used to shoot it down extensively. The TB2 aircraft had its price reduced by 30% due to its high downfall rate in all battlefields. Simply put, this is promoting Turkish equipment by attempting to discredit everything non-Turkish and giving the Turks a false sense of superiority, even though the Turks in Syria couldn't defend themselves, and even in Libya, against airstrikes.

Chinese sources claim the WJ-700 deal is worth $400 million, while other Chinese sources say its value doesn't exceed $200 million, even though it's a TOT (Transfer of Equipment) deal. The Turkish military doesn't disclose this information. Regarding its entire arsenal, for a simple reason: to maintain the element of surprise on the battlefield and its Eastern policy after 1967. Consequently, Egypt announces only the tip of the iceberg, not its entire arsenal. We analyze every piece of information and every news item in various languages to provide a clearer picture. For example, since 2014, Egypt has had an extensive missile cooperation program with Pakistan, which was only recently leaked to the Egyptian media. This was when I mentioned that Egypt has programs to produce and develop 28 different models of drones. In recent years, some of these programs have been announced at military exhibitions, confirming what was previously stated. This means that everything revealed in Egypt is far less than what actually exists. Egypt has chosen to possess superiority in the field of drones without the fanfare, unlike the Turks. The deal was actually signed in 2014.

The AKANCI is battlefield-tested for its rapid destruction and crash rate, and its exorbitant price of 28-50 (presumably referring to a unit of currency) is a significant factor. Therefore, it's better to buy a fighter jet.Furthermore, there is no basis for comparing fighter jets and drones. The simplistic news that highlights this is misleading. To suggest one as an alternative to the other reflects ignorance and a lack of understanding, which is understandable given that many journalists are not specialists. On the contrary, there are Chinese sources that have even specified the number of Egyptian J-10C aircraft in Chinese production lines for Egypt, in addition to those upgraded after acquiring 12 from the Chinese Air Force's own stockpile for rapid delivery. There is a huge difference between the Turks and the Egyptians. The Turks rely on continuous propaganda despite their ongoing scandals and defeats in every arena, whether in the Eastern Mediterranean or within Turkey itself. It is a country infiltrated to its core. The son of Burhan was assassinated, as was the son of Dbeibah, and the Chief of Staff of Western Libya was killed because he called for the expulsion of the Turks from Libya to unify it. Before that, the Russian ambassador was killed. We are talking about massive disasters. Furthermore, the Turks in Syria were attacked by the Israelis and did not dare to retaliate. Our Egyptians are intelligent and more pragmatic. They do not currently enter a battle without alliances, preparing the battlefield, and ensuring the defeat of their enemy. Their red lines are respected by everyone, otherwise, they will face painful blows. We do not object to cooperation between Egypt While Turkey may have interests with Egypt, historically and regionally, the Turks are an enemy of Egypt. Therefore, there is caution in dealing with them. They are like the British, enemies of Egypt for 1000 years, yet there is cooperation and a temporary truce with the British. The production capacity of the Chengdu production line in 2025 is essentially filled by 50 rebates in Pakistan and 36 contracts in Egypt. Iran is not in line, even if it is willing to contribute financially. The rapid delivery of this hand-dumped Russian product does learn the "cost-effective fast delivery" route that the Chinese aviation industry used to often take, but only if they have the Soviet inventory at the bottom. China does not have this historical burden.

As for the J-10C, its export situation is becoming more and more clear. In addition to the dozens of ones already purchased by Pakistan, Egypt, Iran and other countries are also considering buying them.

After the WJ-700 deal… American media suggests that Egypt is heading towards purchasing Chinese J-10 and J-35 stealth fighters

1767318494806.png

American media, including Military Watch magazine, recently reported that there is information indicating that the Egyptian Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with China to purchase the WJ-700 attack drone. The magazine considered this deal to be a turning point in the path of deepening defense cooperation between Egypt and China, and it also believed that after the WJ-700, Cairo and Beijing may reach an agreement on purchasing the advanced fourth-generation J-10C (4.5) and fifth-generation J-35 fighters.

Egypt obtains an integrated Chinese system

In many arms deals, Chinese weapons do not compete equally with their American or Russian counterparts, but rather find themselves facing an integrated system in exchange for one or two pieces, which greatly reduces the price advantage. However, it seems that Egypt is gradually removing these obstacles.

The Egyptian Air Force has already purchased 32 Wing Loong-1, 32 Wing Loong-1D, 32 CH-2, and 12 ASN-209, in addition to local versions such as the “Hamza-2”, as well as undelivered orders for CH-4B and CH-5 aircraft. There were also reports of a $400 million deal to purchase 10 WJ-700 high-altitude, high-speed jet aircraft.

Besides, Egypt has 120 K-8E training aircraft, four Chinese 033-class submarines, two 053HE-class frigates, and missile boats armed with C-802 missiles. It was also reported that it possessed Chinese air defense systems such as the HQ-9BE and HQ-17AE, although this information was not supported by confirmed images.

By possessing this number of drones, training aircraft, ships, and some Chinese air defense systems, Egypt has laid the foundation for a Chinese operations system, even if it is still incomplete. With the signing of the WJ-700 deal, it seems that Cairo is close to the stage of acquiring Chinese jet fighters, whether the J-10 or J-35.

Both fighters are capable of using the PL-15E missile with a range exceeding 145 kilometers, which will give the Egyptian Air Force a medium- and long-range air combat capability that it did not possess before, in light of its current reliance on old F-16 fighters and “lightened” versions of the Rafale. Therefore, the possibility of Egypt purchasing J-10/35 fighters appears high indeed.

It is clear that Sudan will be the final resting place for the AKANCI drone, the latest to be shot down in Sudan, proving that this aircraft is a reliable ally to its adversaries, easily downed by the Sudanese Rapid Reaction Forces.

One of the most important lessons learned from drones is that their cost cannot be high due to their ease of being shot down. Therefore, possessing a large number of drones is natural because their consumption rate in wars is very high. This is why Sudan is moving towards purchasing JF-17 & K-8 drones instead of the Turkish disaster.

Some have tried to link Egyptians to the purchase of this rapidly depreciating, overpriced scrap metal.

RSF have Chinese shorad systems and dumb people like you will use fighters...:ROFLMAO:

• Egypt 🇪🇬 is in advanced talks with the Swedish company Saab 🇸🇪 to acquire the GlobalEye early warning aircraft.
• The deal aims to replace the American E-2C Hawkeye fleet 🇺🇸
• The aircraft will give the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) a longer range, higher altitude, extended air survivability, and improved coverage of air, sea and land threats.

Thank you for proving to us and confirming that the real fools are you, your customers, and your lies. Because your mentality doesn't exceed that of a small mule, you ignore the fact that Egypt possesses huge numbers of drones and more than 10 models of suicide drones. And because you are ignorant, you don't know that we convert short-range suicide drones into strategic ranges. The real fool is the one who buys a drone that costs $15-$28 million and is shot down on the first sortie by a Chinese missile that costs $20,000. The real fool is the one who buys a drone that costs the same as a fighter jet. The real fool is the one who promotes these failed products. You are, of course, very respectful, polite, and well-mannered, and this is proven by your response. But I am pleased by your trivial and failed mentality, as you cannot even convince a small child with your foolish and naive responses. On the contrary, you increase our credibility and confirm what we describe you as. You are children or have the minds of children. You cannot have a polite conversation, nor do you have an ounce of politeness or intelligence.

Your response did not confirm what we are saying, that buying such a product is a disaster for the buyer and that it crashes easily. We cannot even claim that those who operate these aircraft are Sudanese because the operators are Turks. Why did the Sudanese confront the Iranian and Pakistani drones? Simply because they cost less and perform better than this Turkish disaster. For three years you lied, claiming that Egypt bought them, promoting them as such. All Egypt is targeting from the Turks is limited, non-essential equipment, such as ammunition like bombs or tactical missiles, or a limited number of VTOL drones. Exports are primarily to African countries, but there are no truly major weapons. The news keeps revealing the extent of the propaganda and lies you're spreading. On the contrary, Egypt is exploring Turkish products to surpass them, whether as weapons that might be in the hands of its enemies or even for commercial competition. You simply lack any credibility in what you constantly promote with your propaganda and endless stream of lies that you never tire of repeating. On the contrary, we benefit from your propaganda and lies. Firstly, because we expose them. Secondly, because they destroy any credibility you have left,
