The US maybe the EU too and India are two sore losers in the mirror always complaining about Chinese BRI because it's no good for them as they see it, any surprise. After all, it's the Americans and Indians first came up with the idea of debt traps imposed on BRI projects, lol. Is there any credible reporting left by US and maybe India too about Chinese undertakings these days since the two countries declared China as their sworn enemies ? We all know, World Bank and IMF are controlled by US and serve American interests. But, I don't hear the 150 countries that signed up complain about BRI in general. You people are just red eyed about the success of BRI so far, lol, that's why the US, India and G7 want to counter Chinese BRI and come up with their own BRI versions India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and the US-led Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII), if BRI is bad and a failure as you people say, then why bother to worry and imitate ? Sore losers.

This is where places like Vietnam took advantage of India’s inefficiency and lack of contract law enforcement. Pakistan should take note, it might be a smaller market than India, but if it runs the country better, it can attract more per capita in FDI, and have a faster growth rate (especially considering how behind it is compared to India) than India, allowing Pakistan to catch up in term of gdp per capita within a generation or less. High percentage sustainable economic growth can be the impetus for the solution to many of Pakistan’s problem.

With this Indian administration, there is also the high probability that it’s a mix of strategic thought, as well as big deals for Modi’s friends.

Japan and France also want to find a new market for their goods. All three players want to find a way to maximize their benefits with as little given to the other side. Which is why I think the Japanese minister is offended.

A better BRI challenge to the IMEC, would be a direct rail link from China down to Gwadar and sea crossing to any one of the ports from Oman to Al Faw in Iraq, followed by a rail link to Europe from there. Connecting the three largest economic regions of the eastern hemisphere, and a growing labor market in Pakistan. Unlike IMEC, none of the partners are trying to destabilize the region.

This alternative, especially if coupled with undersea pipelines directly from the Persian gulf nations via Pakistan to China and on to the rest of east Asia, would be a game changer for reliable supply of petrochemicals. No worries about oil supply disruptions in the Persian gulf for east Asia. Probably something China might only consider after the current tensions stabilize.

There is no miracle happening in Vietnam. Their overall export grew by 35% in last 5 years but trade deficit with China grew by 110%. Pakistanis should just keep quiet on economics matter if they can't even see plain relabelling.

Yeah, that's a worthy idea to ponder and explore. But, then EU has to be on board, it can't be hostile to China as now EU is heavily influenced if not dictated by hostile US. Also, peace also has to be achieved in ME, can't do it with a major war going on now. Too bad, the railway link from Gwadar port to Kashgar hasn't been put on the radar now.

If all Vietnam is doing is just relabeling, they are doing a better job of it than India. India which is trying to do the same, assembling complements from East Asian suppliers is lagging.

Dubai is the same thing; a “free port”, importing and re-exporting the same goods.

Vietnam is playing the game better than India. If Pakistan wants a piece of the action, it should see where India is falling behind and prepare itself to compete.

You’re welcome to have your own opinion, but don’t you dare tell a Pakistani on a Pakistani forum to keep quiet, especially when we are having a civil discussion. If you can’t be civil, you should be quiet.
