Federal cabinet gives nod to imposition of emergency in KP; summary sent to president

I don't dispute that PTI did benefit from the system at one point, but when Imran Khan tried to break the system, it closed ranks and turned viciously on him to protect its privileges.

At one time only?

The system was okay for him as long as he was PM but the next day the same system became a problem.

@Meengla based on what we know today, IK should have developed a more concrete working relation and alliance with Musharraf. May be that could have at least prevented the NRO and this whole elite capture. That way he could have stayed longer and bring in the much needed reforms.

Imran is not perfect, but which other leader in the last 75 years has refused a deal from a desperate Fauj ?

Musharraf was on his way out after 2007. No military leader survives for long in Pakistan. However, political parties stay for generations. Genuine political parties, that is. Imran should have accepted the role of the Leader of the Opposition after losing the NCM vote in April 2022 and then should have worked to break away the PPP from the Noonies; the Noonies and the PPP and the MQM are political enemies of each other and only joined hands in fear of Imran.
But that would be doing some real politics, right? The idiot doesn't have the brains for simple domestic political calculations let alone a wanna-be Erdogan or MA Jinnah. At best, he is a bad incarnation of Mujib ur Rehman.

If he is not perfect, then what is this big fuss about? Let the change come, which it will, but from the grass root level. Who knows someday a Fauji may bring that change.

Other leader and IK, the difference was people wanted change, break the status quo, IK presented himself as the right candidate to bring that change, and then failed big time.

The others, did their politics based on biradri, wadairay, PIA employments, bijli gas kay waday, biryani and electables.

Imran is the legitimately elected Prime Minister of Pakistan. No one who believes in democracy can accept him being locked up on trumped up charges.

VONC was as legitimate as IK's becoming PM. Him being locked up is not a unique occurrence in Pakistan. Zardari spent some 11 years in jail and he became twice the President after that.

Firstly, politicians in many countries, if not all countries, resort to buying the votes. India's Congress Party was accused of 'Vote Bank Politics' by 'appeasing' the Muslims. The Democratic Party gives the freebies to the under-performing segments of the population, encourage even illegal immigration for vote banks politics. Trump has recently promised $5000 checks to every Americans if the Republican Party wins the upcoming elections in May. Politicians are politicians.

But the idea that Imran was going to bring some real 'change' is a myth: The guy lived in relative luxury and had people like Farah Gogi in his inner circle using the perks of power to amass immense wealth and then Ms. Gogi runs away as Imran's downfall started. There are many many examples of the corruption that went on during Imran's misrule. Would a Caliph of the Riyasat e Medina act like that? He was the same as the PPP/Noonies and others were. We fell for his myths but they were just that: Myths.

That you have to tell that guy--who is on my ignore list-- a simple Constitutional requirement like VONC should tell you something about those who follow Imran. I have no problem calling them Cultists.

Bhai, Mr 10% was not sent to prison only because Fauj knew he was going to win a landslide election and topple the system.

Yep, we should just skip all the details and happenings in between and conveniently conclude that he was arrested in 2023 because he was going to win in 2024 and then God knows what he was going to do with that majority.

If generals knew and PTI knew then why did they give generals the excuse to arrest him and put him in jail? (Assuming it was all Jarnails doing it and PMLN had no axe to grind).

In a democracy, it is the people's business to choose their leader and the leader's prerogative to exercise that mandate subject to laws and the Constitution.

As for PMLN, they may have had an axe to grind, but no power. They couldn't even secure a position for Vadde Mian and so Pakistan has to suffer Nikka.

This 17 minute video should tell everyone how mindless, how stupid PTI's 'politics' has been. Per this guy in the video: Imran looked for the proverbial bull to come and hit him!

BTW, everyone accuses the military of political meddling; a fair charge historically. But when the military finally decided not to meddle in the politics by late 2021 and let Imran and other political parties deal with each other, then Imran, in fear of losing power, begged General Bajwa to continue the support and coerce other political parties like MQM to keep supporting Imran. Bajwa had really no favorites by then: He wanted the military out and it was up to Imran to do the politics to win the support of MQM and other parties to save his govt. But 'politics' is a dirty word for Imran while claiming to run a 'political' party to gain power.

Was Pakistan ever a democracy? Why did IK have problems accepting the VONC, is not that a democratic process?

You underestimate the thuggery of PMLN.

Now, no more excuses. You got full control of both KP and Balochistan (and of federal government, Punjab and partial control of Sindh).

You better deliver results, no more randi rona, no more deflections. Fix the terrorism now.
