FIFA World Cup 2026

48 and no more though.

It's stupid to go above. Qualifying for a world cup where every other nation gets in would no longer be an achievement. The world cup MUST preserve its prestige and exclusivity. To appear there is a reward to be earned, not some God given right that FIFA are obliged to uphold by making it ridiculously easy to qualify.
I agree 48 is enough. I think it has been successful because US is huge with many cities with football stadiums, and even though Canada and Mexico also took small part, US could easily host 48 nations without stress or strain. Many big US cities with football stadiums were left out including my city of San Diego because of LA. They would have fallen in love with San Diego with its chillax weather and beaches not to mention San Diego being the US capitol of craft Breweries with 200 of them compared to the well known drinking city of Boston which has 30-40 breweries. Scotts/Tartan Army would have not drunk San Diego dry like they did to Boston.

Like the Superbowl (cities) the World Cup should have a rotation of permanent nations and after 1994 and this year being very successful (so far) in accommodations, safety, hospitality and awesomeness the US should be a permanent member of this rotation of nations. I mean the money FIFA is making this World Cup is going to be insane.

Btw I love this World Cup format allowing more nations in the tournament.

The US should be a permanent host every 12 years. Even 12 years from now there will be multiple new state of the art stadiums built. Repeat use of stadiums from this year should be at a minimum. Chicago, Minneapolis, Nashville, DC, Vegas, Denver should all be hosts.
