FIFA World Cup 2026

What advantage our player has in this scene over the other Egyptian defenders because his toes have passed some bullshit imaginary plane drawn by some machine? Wasn't that the whole point of offside? To prevent teams from playing dirty by standing behind the other team's defense? Not this bullshit.
OT but Arsene Wenger proposed exactly this sort of rationalisation of the offside rule. I don't think the governing bodies are seriously considering it yet. I think it would be a good move.

To make things worse for our fans, I just realized that the ball had hit the Egyptian defender's hand in the penalty area a few seconds before the offside.

its ok though

at least Iran is likely to go through and probably play in the 32 - round and maybe its going to be Switzerland

should be a good game

I want to stay positive, but I cannot see it happen. I think Ramin teared up because he knew our chances are really slim now.

Ghana does not want to advance as the 2nd team because one of their players cannot enter Canada (the host of their would-be next match) due to having an open sexual harassment case against him. Also, as a rule of thumb, Queiroz excels at defensive football only.

Algeria might want to win against Austria, but I'm not sure if they have the quality to pull that off without counting on luck. And I think both teams will play for a draw because why risk when a draw helps you both advance?

As for Uzbekistan, Congo isn't that bad. They play physically and it'll be a difficult match for the Uzbeks, and we already have a bad memory from Uzbekistan vs Qatar in 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Besides that, Uzbekistan has no chance of advancing to the next round. So, why bother?

Maybe if Ghana, Algeria, Austria or Uzbekistan had more motivation to play and needed to win to advance to the next round, things would've been different.

On paper, our chance to advance to the next round remains high but with a bit of pessimism, not that much.

I doubt Iran qualifies for the next stage. They didn't win a single game.

And then they say Americans should host more football world cups lol
Well....it's where the $$$ are. FIFA is truly a european organization with its 1 billion rules foreverything. Many of these rules, like the offside that disallowed Iran's goal yesterday , are so complex you need to do a bachelors degree at a university to understand them.
