FIFA World Cup 2026

But I’m not the only one that sees it different ……see my previous post. An it’s okay to a have a differing opinion. That shouldn’t be a punishable offense.

FIFA got it right here, after all the Ronaldo red card suspension certainly set the precedent.
Just let it go already. JFC, you really do like to beat a dead horse.

Hate to break it to ya' but the horse is still dead. It isn't coming back.

“Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.”

This is FIFA's rule applicable in the context of Balogun. Nowhere does it mention "intent" or "degree of force" or "speed". The descriptive criteria for a red cardable play are: lunging at an opponent, approach from front/side/behind, 1 or 2 legs, excessive force OR endangering opponent's safety. That Bosnian player's ankle could have been broken. Pretty simple. If Zlatan thinks otherwise, then I disagree with his reading of this rule.

Again you have heard what you want to hear.

Zlatan said "he should not get a red card". How does this imply whether Zlatan is criticising the incorrect process or the red card itself? You cannot make the inference from this statement alone. I'm happy to be corrected if you can provide Zlatan's full commentary where he specifically says the tackle was not worthy of a red card - in which case I would accept he has said this but will continue to disagree with him.

Studs up on the ankle is dangerous play, regardless of intent. In other words, even if Balogun didn't mean to tackle in this way, it is still studs up on the ankle and is still dangerous play and red cardable. In the Premier League, players get red cards for this regularly.

Thierry Henry and Zlatan both agree it should not have been a red card.

In the end, FIFA made the right decision IMO. It’s the World Cup. We want to see the best on best right? Do we really want to see Balogun out because he accidentally stepped on an opposing player? If Belgium feels slighted, stop crying, and go win on the field. I

unprecedented levels of corruption, even for FIFA.

worst world cup version of all times.

Brazil has been incredibly wasteful so far. As expected, Vinicius is the best player on the pitch. Great player.

No goals so far. There should have been 2-3 goals by now already.

Why did Vini Jr not take the penalty?
Probably the worst penalty i. The WC

The FIFA president is fully in bed with epstein class. A lizard guy!!

Neymar is on now - lets see what he can do
Neymar was such a joy to watch during his best years for FC Barcelona and Brazil before all his injuries and off-field nonsense. One of the biggest talents in world football in the past 15 years and one of the most technically gifted players.

Now he is just a shadow of his former self and he is only 34 years old. He made tons of money and overall had a great career (only missing a World Cup title) so he is probably content but he should have achieved much more.

Shame with that injury back in 2014. I doubt that Brazil would have lost 7-1 against Germany if he had played.

Watched him and arguably the best attack in football history (MSN) a few times in person during the treble win season (2014-15). Some team. Back when Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets were around as well - arguably the best midfield trio in football history.
