Frustrated Google employee wants to quit as half of his teammates are Indians

The question for Google dude then "is why doesn't he just quit?"

We all know what the answer to that is.

Indian is way too broad of a term... My hirings are different.

Gujarati - good workers but slick, will take advantage at first instance, steal.

Punjabis - more clean, not as hard working but won't undermine you or steal

Malyalum - like telugu kind and hard working but lazy when not supervised

My own experience. Spent 4 years hiring training and team building a design office with multiple trips to your Telugu heartland in Kondapur, Gacchibawli and Bangaluru Whitefield.
I am used to the "cock and bull " fake resumes and Course Completion Certificates from SriSri Vishwakarma University l
So as expected that was just a personal ranting of a frustrated individual who might have lost his job due to outsourcing or lack of talent!! 😂

Actually I got promoted and the guys I hired gave me a surprise celebration party. 🤣 I have climbed the ladder a bit since then. My subordinates like a neutral boss,
  • The Kannadiga don't like the Tamils & Andhra ( Telugu)
  • The Andhra Telugu don't like Kannadiga and Tamils
  • The Tamils don't like the Andhra Telugu and Kannadiga
  • The Tamil, Telugu, Kannadiga hate the Malayali who in turn hate all of them.
  • Plus all the above hate the Rajasthani, UP, Bihari and MP ( Chattisgarhi) Haryanvi people though they are pitifully few in the IT or engineering outsourcing manpower resources business.
  • The 4 hubs Gurgaon ( its called something else now), Hyderabad, Pune and Bangalore each have their own of buddy network overseas. They all hate each other,
As neutral Pakistani I judge people on merit. Indians like an external arbiter, something that is ingrained in their psyche after centuries of foreign rule and colonialism.

Oh one last thing:
I had to give a patient hearing to Dalits who complained of "discrimination " from "Brahmins" at the workplace. The complaints were from Maharashtra Dalits against Brahmins from their own state. I initially thought of referring the matter to Human Resources but on closer investigation I found the claims baseless, and I got them to shake hands, Their affiliation with the RSS notwithstanding I found Saraswat Brahmins the easiest to work with. Their professionalism and work ethic was par excellence.

There is a lot of discrimination against Indian students (workers) in Canada and yes some do not meet the criteria but vast majiority I have hired and worked in my offices are excellent workers and outstanding humans. They do not fuss about over time...running late...shorten lunch breaks....sick time....and always always go an extra mile. Only Phillipiono workers compete with them or surpass in work....

Nonsense.

Indians engage in rampant ethnic nepotism and actively discriminate against non-Indians. That is why the post above by @SoulSpokesman mentioned teams which are almost 100% Indian.

I have worked in projects where non-Indians got fired by Indian bosses for 'low producticvity' while several Indians with even lower productivity were retained and recommended by the same Indian management. I have seen this over and over.

I ignored it as usual but was less-than-impressed when the Indian management expected me to work extra hard to make up the slack for the inferior quality Indians.

why should he quit because Indians are allowed to discriminate against non-Indians?

He is doing the right thing by highlighting a problem that is endemic to the industry but is quietly ignored because of politcal correctness. It's about time that people spoke up about the rampant ethnic nepotism practised by Indians in the West. The problem has gotten so bad industry-wide that people are finally starting to speak up.

Meritocracy is fine, ethnic nepotism and discrimination is not.

It is inevitable that Pakistanis will end up working with Indians overseas.
I would earnestly suggest to young overseas Pakistanis in the tech sector to get out of their shell, interact ( as far as possible) with young "techie" Indians most of whom are from South India anyway and harbor far less animosity towards Pakistanis than their Northern counterparts.

Rule 1.
The further South you go the less the animosity. Thus Tamils and Malayalis have the least amount of animosity towards Pakistanis. Among the Southerners Kannadiga might the most hostile.

Rule 2.
Always talk to South Indian Techies in English, even if they claim fluency in basic Hindi ( sprinkled with a lot of Indish words). South Indians especially Tamils have no particular love for the Hindi language and resent what they call an imposition. Speaking to them in Hindi automatically clubs you with their Northern counterparts which they hate.

Rule 3 .
Don't touch or shake hands with Indians ( any Indian) unless he or she offers her hand. Indians have an untouchability rule and as India gets more conservative , all Muslims ( Indian Muslims included) automatically become untouchable because of the diet ( non veg).

Rule 4
In the office canteen or dining hall eat at a separate table unless specifically invited to join. When eating do not touch a glass or dish and pass it along without first asking.

Rule 5
Indian society is highly nuanced. Each group and ethnic linguistic community have their own festivities that are not celebrated and observed in other regions. Find out where your colleagues come from and note the dates of the festivals particularly to their state. Example: Ugadi for Andhra, Pongal for Tamil Nadu, Onam for Kerala. Save the dates to your Smartphone calendar,
Then wish your colleagues on Ugadi ( or any other festival) and see their shock and pleasant surprise.

Rule 6
Never discuss politics, religion ( Islam), or India Pakistan relations. Instead ask the South Indians about their cuisine, art music, theatre and culture. They may throw religion into their culture since it is inextricably bound but be a polite listener. If the Andhra techie talks about the Kuchipudi dance form and Satyabhama depiction, ask about Satyabhama.

Rule 7
Do a basic primer on their religion using either an online resource or ordering some books through Amazon. Since their are many schools of philosophy you may stumble upon the dominant school and you could self-educate accordingly.
( Note: I made this my hobby and acquired some knowledge )

Remember: Techie Indians are not supermen. They have emigrated to earn a living and find their dream lifestyle which is but a dream in their own hometowns. They are ordinary folk simply trying to get away from their own country with no desire at all to go back. Over 20 million have emigrated since 2004.

Techie Indians are beneficiaries of racial discrimination.

Unqualified and underqualified Indians get hired over better qualified whites, Chinese and other ethnicities because, once Indians get in management, they fill the project with other Indians. Rampant, runaway ethnic nepotism.

The Indians cover up for each other and management demands that non-Indians pick up the slack for the inferior quality Indians.

I have seen this over and over and. over -- in the US and Australia.

How would you react if Indians came to Pakistan and actively disctiminated against Pakistanis to favor less qualified Indians? Whites in the West have kept quiet because they did't want to sound racist but things have gotten so out of control, people are finally starting to speak up.

When the CEO of Google , Microsoft, Adobe, are Indian
Then what do you expect the world force to look like.

Indians tend to hire Indians provided they meet the required qualifications.

It's a work culture thing
A white guy will switch off his work phone at 5pm
An Indian will pickup his manager's call even on a Sunday afternoon, while out with friends ,
Indians are also willing to work for 20-30% less pay , than their white counterparts

Disagree.
Indians are no more hardworking than the average American, Some get less pay ( possibly) because they are working on 3 to 6 months rotation contracts, which by the way is illegal.
If Indians were that competent and hardworking than bridges wouldn't be collapsing in India and a 40:year project on a fighter jet wouldn't have gone down the tube.

I have been to India and seen laziness, corruption and incompetence to levels that I have seen nowhere else in the world including my own country. The state of Bihar is a classic case.
If I were to rate a workforce on efficiency, work ethic and competence near-equivalent to Americans, I would put China at that level. Chinese techies are the real stuff, I worked with Chinese engineers and it was a pleasure.

That's partly because of political correctness and partly because Indians know how to play office politics. Western companies love to promote non-whites to show diversity, and Indians capitalize on this Western penchant.

Indians tend to hire Indians provided they meet the required qualifications.

Wrong by a long shot. The politically incorrect truth is that only about 20% of the people in any project really matter, about 60% are generic average workers, and about 20% are dead weight that are actually a drag on the project. Guess where Indians predominate?

Indians are also willing to work for 20-30% less pay , than their white counterparts

This is also nonsense. Under-qualified Indians get hired into some of the best paying jobs in the West, well into six figures. Name brand companies will not undercut by hiring people who work for less (within reason).

You want to talk about Shoddy construction
Their is no better example than China
China had more apartment and bridge collapse than any other nation on earth.

Also it's a lot easier to develop code for applications than to create a fighter jet from scratch.

Also Tejas program suffered due to changing goalposts and performance benchmarks of IAF and due to engine supply delays from GE.

LCA program sanctioned in 1983 envisioned a fighter which was similar in capability to the Mirage 2000H being inducted by IAF in 1985.

This version of Mirage 2000 was considered obsolete by early 2000s, and was upgraded to Mirage2000v5 standard.
Present 40 Tejas Mk1 are better than Mirage2000v5 when it comes to Radar, Avionics as well as A2A missiles configuration.

The current Tejas Mk1a matches the present benchmarks of 4.5 gen fighters when it comes to Radar, Avionics and Weapons.

HAL as built 6 units of Mk1a aircrafts , but they are flying with category 2 engines , due to delay in supply of Engines by GE

Hopefully none of you are Googlers!

A growing conversation around workplace diversity has surfaced at Google, whwere employees are voicing concerns over cultural homogeneity within teams, particularly in engineering and technical roles. One employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Team Blind, described a noticeable shift in team composition over recent years. “My manager is Indian, my skip-level manager is Indian, and even their manager is Indian,” the employee said. “My team is split between India and other regions, but nearly all my teammates are Indian, except for what seem like a few hiring anomalies.”

While emphasising that the concern is not about individuals or ethnicity, the employee shared feelings of cultural disconnect and a loss of the team diversity that once made collaboration enjoyable. “There was a time when our team had people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, it made the environment more vibrant, open, and fun. Now, I often feel like an outlier.” The employee also suggested that this dynamic has impacted their sense of inclusion and belonging at the company, and shared that they are currently planning to leave the organisation.

The Internet swiftly reacted to the post. A user said, “In a world of woketards, it’s a rather avant garde perspective, but it doesn’t have to be.” Another noted, “You can still have fun with Indians.” Every fifth person in the world is Indian. Deal with it,” noted a user. A netizen claimed, “I am in California. All the employees in the company are Indian. The neighborhood I lived are all Indian. Sometimes I don’t know if I am in India or United States.”

“There are only 2 Americans on my team, the rest are all Indian. My pillar up to the VP is only 3% Americans. And I choose to use the term “Americans” bc i’m not hyper-focused on the team being white, I actually want to see legit diversity on our teams (race, ethnicity, gender, etc). I’m more concerned that we work for an American Company and make up a tiny fraction of the headcount. And it has absolutely nothing to do with capability/intelligence, and everything to do with ethnic empire building on the inside,” added a user.

A user claimed, “What is it with west’s obsession about having forced diversity? Like why does an engineering team or a company needs to be diverse over meritocracy? What purpose does diversity serve? Tiktok in China was built by 100% Chinese and it got adoption all over the world, so don’t say diversity is required for creating a global product. Few decades ago, US created many global brands with just Americans working for those companies.”

Regards
Indians have taken over a lot, credit goes to gujaratis and then midwestern punjabis though, IT/Silicon Valley has been dominated by the Indians for last 15-20 years.

Gujju patels own over 50% of hotels in USA according to bloomberg, the hate is not new

This phenomenon has been well documented. Indians only hire other Indians. Once one Indian gets into your org, he will pull another one and hence forth until there are maybe two or three non-Indians left in the whole org. Once they get into supervisory or executive positions, they only promote other Indians. So it's great for them, but bad for non Indians.

Still I think Indians are better than Pakistanis in this regard. With the exception of medical community, a Pakistani is allergic to hiring or helping another Pakistani. Frankly we are the only South Asians like this :( even Nepalis and Bangladeshis help their countrymen a lot in school, in job search and then on the job. But Pakistanis....sadly they are lone wolves.

From my experience working with Indians for a long time in West...about 60% of them are indeed very qualified and hard working. The remaining 40% are mediocre and largely employed due to nepotism and networking.
