Frustrated Google employee wants to quit as half of his teammates are Indians

So when do you think the flood started and why?
Certainly the dotcom bust played a big factor as media portrayed the IT sector as a fad that burned itself out discouraging young people to pursue it.
This is akin to today where people are saying certain jobs are a dead end career due to AI and so you should avoid it.
Sometime around 2006 is when I started noticing Indians in IT. By 2008 jobs were being outsourced to offshore Indian teams. By 2010 those offshore teams became in-house H1-B teams.

I don't know when this all started. But I recall meeting an India IT guy on a long Amtrak trip in late 90s. He literally boasted like 'We [Indians] run America. Without us, American companies can't function'. I was stunned by the arrogance. That was a quarter century ago but I still remember that conversation.
Anyway, the craziness of outsourcing doesn't affect me too much. Just a few more years left for me to work and I also hit a mini jackpot in a real estate deal.

Lol. The entire thread reeks of rants of Pakistanis seething that they can't replicate India's or Indians success for themselves. For all the fraud they seem to claim in the process, they themselves would never look for talent in Karachi or Lahore in Pakistan because they know their own people. Indians get hired because they might not be what they claim to be at the beginning but always are a diligent, hardworking people who would put in work to overcome the deficiences. Other south asian countrymen would not do the same but rather want to live out of doles. So take their rants with pinch of salt. Hiring companies know better.
My last post:
Reality check:
  • The thread was by an Indian @SoulSpokesman
  • The thread is about white Americans frustrated with the Indian presence in Google.
  • Only a few Pakistanis were tagged in the OP, and the OP doesn't mention Pakistan or a Pakistani viewpoint at all,
  • The thread should be viewed as an exchange of ideas not as a so-called " triumph and dominance of Indians in Google.
  • Indian PDF members are upset that Pakistanis have a far better understanding of the real cause of the so-called Indian dominance in Google and ALSO know the vulnerabilities, weaknesses, inner tensions of the immigrant "tech sector " Indian workforce.
As a Pakistani origin person myself I would have preferred not to expose the vulnerabilities of the Indian techie workforce since they work for me, but given the rude triumphalism and denigration of Pakistanis here left me with no choice but to wash all their dirty linen in public.
For the record: I have nothing against Indian techies. The rotating 3 month "on-off " contractors on "training visit visas" are living 6-7 persons in a single dingy apartment subsisting on rice cooked in rice-cookers, dal, some spinach curry and avakaya pickles. They have long waits at the bus stops since no one has a driving license or car. I pick them up and drop them off as best as I can.
It's a hard life,
I have no particular bias against Telugu peoples, they just happen to be the dominant group in the "techie" community.
I studied Telugu culture and history and can appreciate Kuchipudi ; though I still don't know why Andhra Chief Minister NT Rama Rao took off his lungi on the floor of the Andhra Assembly and re-wrapped it like a saree.
@sentry
I am interested in Telugu culture so maybe you can educate me in a separate thread in the India section.

Lol. Again with stupid rants. NT Rama Rao? Ohhhhh. Obviously you stayed close to some telugu, chumming up with them and now becoming macho man on an anonymous forum. More you speak, more you expose your retardedness. Anyways no matter what you say, reality doesn't change. PAKISTANIS are just too competent to be in IT and are best at exporting donkeys that they think are key contributions to innovative chinese tech sector.

I thought Google was an indian company, they have an indian CEO, he has an inspiring story, like the kid from Slumdog. And also, indians like to say 'goooogal' a lot while shaking their heads from side to side...rather like those toy dogs you see on car dashboards.

For years, people demanded high wages and cheap goods and services.

Outsourcing and offshoring of jobs gave them their cheap goods and services.
The Investor class wanted to retire on their pension pots so why not have a cheaper cost base

They will probably have wealth to pass down onto their kids

It's a kind of grab and run from the baby boomers

Ironically, or maybe sadly, some of these parents are anxious that they're expensive ivy League educations are not leading to smooth career in tech

You cannot I think undo the Indian presence in western take easily, V2 have aspirations once they have their foot through the door and we know that the Indian consultancies (laughably) will probably try and place themselves as AI implementation experts as organizations start to at least include some AI, it's only at that point where the Indian consultancies may be vulnerable

Anyways no matter what you say, reality doesn't change. PAKISTANIS are just too competent to be in IT and are best at exporting donkeys that they think are key contributions to innovative chinese tech sector
Can't resist rubbing this in:
In ONE sector the Pakistani "donkey boys " with their Chinese partners outclassed the Indian Udupi techies in software development as well as hardware which is . Electronic Aerospace Air combat Warfare.

Which is why the score as of May 6-7th is 6-0. , actually 7-0
if you count the Abhinandan Tea Party of 2019.

If some Indian Techies had stayed back to work on deciphering the Rafale source code perhaps the result would have been slightly different, maybe 4-0

Reality doesn't change. The Moosi river still smells bad .

Damn! Indians from "south" no doubt!

My first US company was Altera Inc. I was the only Indian on team (year 2007). From Taiwanese to white, I was the only Indian though we had few others in different work teams ( It was a medium size company). I preferred working there over Intel or Oracle which had substantial Indian engineers even back then. Indian CEOs and team leads are truly terrible. Ofcourse American education system is going down the drain so finding qualified engineers must a "thing" right now.

@onlinpunit @SoulSpokesman @vasanthm
It is inevitable that Pakistanis will end up working with Indians overseas.
I would earnestly suggest to young overseas Pakistanis in the tech sector to get out of their shell, interact ( as far as possible) with young "techie" Indians most of whom are from South India anyway and harbor far less animosity towards Pakistanis than their Northern counterparts.

Rule 1.
The further South you go the less the animosity. Thus Tamils and Malayalis have the least amount of animosity towards Pakistanis. Among the Southerners Kannadiga might the most hostile.

Rule 2.
Always talk to South Indian Techies in English, even if they claim fluency in basic Hindi ( sprinkled with a lot of Indish words). South Indians especially Tamils have no particular love for the Hindi language and resent what they call an imposition. Speaking to them in Hindi automatically clubs you with their Northern counterparts which they hate.

Rule 3 .
Don't touch or shake hands with Indians ( any Indian) unless he or she offers her hand. Indians have an untouchability rule and as India gets more conservative , all Muslims ( Indian Muslims included) automatically become untouchable because of the diet ( non veg).

Rule 4
In the office canteen or dining hall eat at a separate table unless specifically invited to join. When eating do not touch a glass or dish and pass it along without first asking.

Rule 5
Indian society is highly nuanced. Each group and ethnic linguistic community have their own festivities that are not celebrated and observed in other regions. Find out where your colleagues come from and note the dates of the festivals particularly to their state. Example: Ugadi for Andhra, Pongal for Tamil Nadu, Onam for Kerala. Save the dates to your Smartphone calendar,
Then wish your colleagues on Ugadi ( or any other festival) and see their shock and pleasant surprise.

Rule 6
Never discuss politics, religion ( Islam), or India Pakistan relations. Instead ask the South Indians about their cuisine, art music, theatre and culture. They may throw religion into their culture since it is inextricably bound but be a polite listener. If the Andhra techie talks about the Kuchipudi dance form and Satyabhama depiction, ask about Satyabhama.

Rule 7
Do a basic primer on their religion using either an online resource or ordering some books through Amazon. Since their are many schools of philosophy you may stumble upon the dominant school and you could self-educate accordingly.
( Note: I made this my hobby and acquired some knowledge )

Remember: Techie Indians are not supermen. They have emigrated to earn a living and find their dream lifestyle which is but a dream in their own hometowns. They are ordinary folk simply trying to get away from their own country with no desire at all to go back. Over 20 million have emigrated since 2004.
That's all well and good if one is able to breakdown their ethnic discrimination barrier and become part of their team/organization.

This phenomenon has been well documented. Indians only hire other Indians. Once one Indian gets into your org, he will pull another one and hence forth until there are maybe two or three non-Indians left in the whole org. Once they get into supervisory or executive positions, they only promote other Indians. So it's great for them, but bad for non Indians.

Still I think Indians are better than Pakistanis in this regard. With the exception of medical community, a Pakistani is allergic to hiring or helping another Pakistani. Frankly we are the only South Asians like this :( even Nepalis and Bangladeshis help their countrymen a lot in school, in job search and then on the job. But Pakistanis....sadly they are lone wolves.

From my experience working with Indians for a long time in West...about 60% of them are indeed very qualified and hard working. The remaining 40% are mediocre and largely employed due to nepotism and networking.
Pakistanis are the worst at discriminating against their own and even worse like cucking to indians.

Abuse of H1b starting in the mid to late 90s.

You guys are stuck talking about IT outsourcing and backend work for the West, without any real sense of where Bangalore is actually heading. I live next door to Bangalore, and the innovation and progress in the tech scene here is on a completely different level.

We’re seeing 20 year olds and even teenagers building and launching tech products literally from their bedrooms. Some are already dollar millionaires. Just one small example of this bedroom driven innovation:

Tell me, what do you think 20-year-olds are doing in other developing countries, or even in Pakistan? Pakistanis can mock Indian IT all they want, but what’s happening in India now goes far beyond H-1Bs or the Indian techies abroad. The scale of what’s building up here in India’s tech ecosystem is massive and it’s going to drive growth and opportunities for India’s middle class like never before.

I do not know about others but I have made a policy of NEVER hiring any generation Z white north American. These folks are nothing but whining idiots. I simply hire people on H1B or recommend moving job to Bangalore and I recommend this to everyone I know.

Gen-Z whites are worst kind of people. They need to be crushed.

No. You will never be part of their team. Even within their ethnic linguistic groups no one becomes part of the individual sub-teams, A North Indian from Delhi will never be part of their team either. The rules I mentioned are for the office, the coffee room and canteen only. Culturally or linguistically you are better off trying to connect with Punjabi Hindus or Sikhs from Delhi, Jammu. Punjab, Haryana and Himachal. Even then the rules, regarding, touch and food apply.
