I don't think Cold War politics has much to do with the tilt. Bill Clinton tried very hard to become a peacemaker as he wanted it for his legacy (not so secretly angling for Nobel prize to burnish his tarnished reputation). He dabbled in the Balkans and Africa too, though not successfully. That would not have happened if U.S. had given up on peace in the 1990's. The nail in the coffin was 9/11 when the idealism of JFK and Carter went away, and we got 'Just don't give a damn' Trumpism.@EugeneP : Please see the @UKBengali post quoted here.
After the Fall of the Soviet Union, there was virtually no challenging power to the Americans for many years and so the hubris set in. At least once during the Cold War, I think it was during the Suez Canal crisis, Americans leaned heavily against Israel to prevent an escalation with the Soviet Union. But things changed drastically after 1991: The NeoCons even declared 'The End of History' if anyone here is old enough to remember that famous proclamation. I believe it is not a coincidence that the Americans have gone totally in supporting Israel when the Soviet Union fell. Whatever geopolitical 'calculations' or constraints that had defined America between 1945-1991 were largely gone after 1991 and that reflects in the American policies in the Middle East and in the groveling every American President has to do wearing a skull-cup at the Wailing Wall. And 9/11 has sealed that 'alliance' much to Israel's delight and benefits. Before 1991, Americans Presidents, while still pro Israel, were not the total stooges of Israel. Biden is the worst stooge with the possible likely exception of Trump II coming up.
However I think they don't want their "response" to be historical record, that's the one taboo their people have. If it becomes historical record they won't be able to perpetrate future atrocities and claim victimhood at the same time. This is why there past atrocities aren't as famous.
Depends on when you’re reading the history book. Fifty years from today history books will say that some Eastern European settlers who converted to Judaism, helped by Crusaders, occupied Palestine for a century or so. Together they committed genocide of the natives of the region, not sparing man, woman, child, or animal, just as their Bible commanded (1 Samuel 15:3). They killed both Muslims and Christians of the area with equal gusto.
As long as Muslims were disunited the Zionists and Crusaders continued their occupation and killing. One day Muslims got united under a strong leader and there was a war that is called Armageddon. The Zionists and Crusaders were defeated and the ones remaining alive were expelled from the region. Any Jews left alive in the world are permanently banned from setting foot in the region. Jerusalem is now the capital of the united Islamic Caliphate.
