10 billion dollars for a derative of the U214 submarine but based on Indian needs for long range ocean patrol to complement the six Scorpene subs in service already and the four nuclear Armoured Arihant subs already in service

I just got too excited after hearing that deal might be signed next month and called U boat a most advanced in entire Asia..... this was only because of our laxity in procurement process it's normal for an Indian...

This song is actually for defense Indian enthos who spend their life waiting for some deal to get signed....

Indian Submarine fleet will be split as follows

Nuclear armed four Arihant class subs for triad of second strike three in service now 4th arriving in two years

Next generation nuclear subs S5 on drawing board arriving 2035 -2045 17k tonnes estimated X four subs

Long range conventional subs project 75i will be German u214 but Indian specific IE larger weight op and weapons load 6 submarines deal 10 billion

The very same sub to built with Indian sourced content under project 76 12 submarines from 2035

Finally

Scorpene subs from France 6 in service already smaller stealthier AIP being added as we speak operating closer to Indian mainland

7 Russian kilos to be phased next few years

Future

4-8 nuclear armed attack submarines

12-18. Project 75 and 76 German designed submarines

It would take time and we need to retire older kilo and U209s so as of now U214 is the best option and just look at the capability of this baby.....

India does not have an indigenously designed AIP and their nuclear subs are all ballastic missile subs meant solely for strategic deterrence. They don't have any nuclear attack submarine meant for naval combat.
