Voters in Gilgit-Baltistan region will head to the polls on June 7 to elect representatives from 24 constituencies, election officials said.
More than 950,000 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots in the regional elections.
Among the major political parties contesting the election, the Pakistan Peoples Party has fielded candidates in 23 constituencies, while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is contesting 22 seats. The Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party has nominated candidates in 15 constituencies.
Eight women are also participating in the elections. The Pakistan Peoples Party, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and the Pakistan Nazriyati Party have each awarded a party ticket to one female candidate.
