Hellenism is the name of a period in Greek history that was basically about Greek culture mixing with those of The Middle East and Central Asia and it starts with Alexander the Great according to scholarly opinions.

I think you're mostly correct except for the wording, there was already a well established multitude of Greek colonies in Anatolia by the time of the Greco-Persian Wars and the colonization as a whole had started earlier.
