I don't think we can even put a Pakistani or any other country's label on the guys.. 1998 was the year when he moved to Australia, and the son was born there... It's an Australian security apparatus failure more than anything.
Australians are not dumb like other nations.. They will ask relevant questions from their government as to why these guys remained unchecked even when there were hints of one of them was linked to IS.
And then the questions will be asked about the Islamic school/ mosque these guys usually attended. All Muslims of that area in specific will be looked at with a suspicion..
Calm down
And stop cursing yourself or your own people

He could equally be confusing Indian with Pakistani, or referring to South Asia collectively in that phrase. We here are precise, but most non asians are not that precise. Jury is still out on origin of the father.
You mean the father?Did he apply for his Australian passport? Which country he came from as a student?
In the western world ISIS types freely brainwash people, alot of them have connections with secret agencies, they use alot of emotional blackmail, constant propaganda, materials, friendships, promise of Jannah etc to get recruits, mostly people with emotional and personal issues join them, from being loonies they feel like they are part of something great. Many educated doctors also fall for it. We witnessed how people left the western countries and joined ISIS in Iraq and Syria, the propaganda and confusion is powerful. The same way it happens in the Muslim world, the recruiters mostly use grievances and propagate it so much that some hot headed or idiot falls for them, they mostly stay in contact with them for many years and slowly overtake their mind. People blame Maddrassas but these guys never set a foot inside maddrassa, they have less Islamic education but more brainwashing, emotional blackmail.

Maybe I am too harsh on it, I said that not to say Ahmed should do this, I said that to emphasis how out of control the pair were, I mean you can't be more out of control for you to lose your firearm when you are the shooter.I remember the first piece of news I watched on TV in Melbourne in 2001 which was about a thief who sued the house owner where this theif went to steal things but got injured on a knive or some other sharp object which was lying on the floor. The amazing thing I remember was the the thief winning the case.
Coming to your post, although I agree with your point, and I would probably have shot the attacker if I were in the position of the hero, atleast in the leg or arm to immobilize him until LEAs got there. However, considering my point above, who would want to shoot the unarmed assailant who would also have rights and would eventually be able to sue the 'Hero'??
Probably to prevent stuff we are talking about. So we don't villify anyone.Son born in Australia but father? Why they are keeping his identity secret?
