Can someone please for the life of me explain how exactly these firms scam the system?

Infosys takes a contract from Walmart to run their IT? They then hire the folks back in India? Where does H1B come in?

Yes, this has been part of the scams in recent years due to WFH policies. People holding down multiple jobs while only focusing on one of them. For the rest they simply do the minimum and survive until fired.

I recently filled out a volunteer form at my city’s library, and even just for volunteering, they required details like my driver’s license number, SSN, spouse’s employment information (if they work for the city), date of birth, and department.

So how is it that someone sitting outside the country can work for these companies?

I dont think this guy was sitting outside the country. There are also millions of people without visas or immigration status working at jobs. So how do they do it ? Fake documents and stolen identities while the employers look away.

That's offshoring , yes Infosys takes a contract and hires people in India only. The Indians who work on it are usually a few experienced and capable people and mostly freshers and warm bodies.

H1B is when American companies bring in foreigners at a lower and wage and replace American workers. Indian IT companies have been heavily involved in that pipeline as well.

I know what an H1B is, I've been in one.

But how are these companies exactly scamming the H1b system?

That is the point. They are not. The issue is that a large number of H1B visa holders come from one particular country which offers a large cohort of reasonably skilled professionals at reasonable price points.

The allegations of scamming are largely levelled by some American professionals who have lost out and by nationals/emigrants from another nation (a neighbour of that nation incidentally) who are jealous of the success of that said nation.

I somewhat agree with you that the right wing sentiment is in part to blame and the issue is overblown, but these consulting companies do game the system somehow, by putting in multiple application for the same petition, or something similar. There was a USCIS crackdown in the last lottery cycle I believe.

But what exactly is the scam? How can you enter multiple petitions for the same person?

Sometimes they have a h1b project and a technical lead onsite to co-ordinate things

Especially since a colleague referred me


It's a very well thought out procedure, could be considered analogous to money laundering, but human laundering - placement layering integration


Maybe just scroll through one of these accounts
