That’s what I was thinking - the Tejas CLAW team has already done an excellent job decade ago making that aspect ratio combination with some serious static instability work smoothly… so the architecture seems to be the logical choice.

Tejas used Intel i960 process... And for a reason. It supports hardware acceleration of memory protection native to Ada. India's flight laws are written in Ada.

The reason India is using PowerPC is because PowerPC instruction set supports memory tagging as well via AS extensions and can be fabricated practically anywhere, even in India on 180nm SCL node.

No they're using a similar layout as the Tejas Mk1, but with Smart MFDs in place of the earlier MFDs.

the LAD will come with the Tejas Mk2.

MFs? Abuse them for what?! Aerospace is a complex sector, a delay of a month here or there is no big deal. To give you some perspective- go look at the Boeing/Saab T-7A and how far long it is even now..they're still looking at doing flutter testing and Boeing has been unable to deliver the mandated number of T-7As for testing. Instead they've got just 3 ready so far.

The first Tejas Mk1A is going to fly soon. Delivery will happen to the IAF soon after. the new DFCC was one of the important LRUs that needed to be tested on a prototype before the first series production Tejas Mk1A had it's first flight.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is preparing the first two units of the improved Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk 1A for delivery to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in March.
A source in HAL told Janes that the company aims to deliver the first two aircraft by 31 March. “The IAF has requested the handover of at least one Mk 1A aircraft before this date,” the source said.
