HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

it just doesn't look like a modern fighter but something from the early Cold War period. But the colour and shape of the aircraft has always appeared really ugly to me.
Obviously it looks ugly to you, you love JF-17 whose designed life is of 3000 hours, while of LCA program of 12,000 hours.

The fact is the normal life of planes is 25-30 years, or 3,000 flying hours. The Tejas has been designed for FOUR TIMES this span at 12,000 hours! At 3,000 opl hrs is when the airframe of the LCA will have to undergo strenuous tests to ensure there is no metal fatigue.

Wow, with only 3,000 hours of life and operating for nearly two decades now, the JF-17 Thunder has been used to attack Indian positions in February 2019, Afghanistan in April 2022 and Iran in January 2024.

Also, the Nigerian and the Myanmarese air forces using them on rebel positions in their own countries.

Indeed, MiG-21 Bison with 4000 hours of service life did the same.

But we're not living in the Cold War era anymore.

A 21st century fighter aircraft needs to look like a 21st century fighter aircraft.

How many fighters of the 21st century are Pakistan fielding

I'm.sure half the Pak fleet is still.mirage five and F7
And I swear the thunder looks like Mig21 off spring

One of the last Tejas Mk1 FOC fighters to be delivered to No.18 Squadron..LA-5031.

Flying with 3 drop tanks

Right now these beautiful planes are massive upgrade on cold war jaguars and migs..

So we have yasser constantly telling us the production is too slow
Pak space Tejas is ugly
Windy started a entire thread about Tejas delays dated 2001

Seems a concerted effort campaign to malign

I feel the order of Second batch OF Tejas and 2 ,billion dollars funding for Amca has a few people uncomfortable

Let's post some more stuff on Tejas it's a Tejas thread after all

Duh, that's the reason Pakistan has acquired JF-17 Thunders and J-10C Indus Dragons as well as looking to acquire the L-15s and J-31s to replace the remaining Cold War era Mirages, FT-7s and the F-7s.

On the other hand, India is looking to replace its Cold War era aircrafts apparently with 400 newly built LCA Flying Rickshaws that also belongs in the Cold War era.

we are just looking at fighters who can go beyond Mirage 2000 in functionality and looks are not a priority, but there will come a time post-AMCA, when will have enough expertise to concentrate on aesthetics too
