Frankly I don't give a s"%t or have any concern about the safety of Modi or either chief. I was just surprised at the lack of protocol and controls allowing a situation to develop where you can loose two cheifs in an instant, this does not happen anywhere in the world. Forty years of stagnant development with zero buyer will make you do crazy stunts.
Take it from somebody who did this for a living over multiple decades, listen carefully, shit happens in aviation and in fighters it happens faster, there is no fail safe aircraft.
Do give your gyaan to someone else. The Tejas trainer has been used to give back seat joy rides to a bunch of people, including the following:
- Singaporean Def Min Ng Eng Hen
- USAF Chief of Staff David Goldfein
- French Chief of Staff Andre Lanata
- Luftwaffe Chief of Staff Ingo Gerhartz
- Spanish Air Force Chief of Staff Francisco Carbo
- Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh
- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
- Multiple Indian Air Chief Marshals (Arup Raha, RK Bhadauria, VR Chaudhari, AP Singh)
They are all aware of the risks of flying in a fighter and especially a single engine one. The Tejas' safety record inspires confidence, so whatever else you want to attribute it to (not selling, so trying hard to market or whatever) it doesn't matter. They are not forced into the cockpit. They know what they're doing.
