Plenty of goodies sensor mounts are visible. It does look like a heavily customized Yuan. This thing has an active torpedo countermeasure system, active passive sonars and that optronic mast is so imposing.

Only natural, Yuan B is over a decade old design ATP they would have probably put new sensors on it.

PN have welcomed it like nothing. Maybe shes covertly more capable than she looks? Don't know just guessing 🤔 🧐

Anechoic tile cover looks sleek but I'm more curious about the Sterling based AIP performance. Surely Chinese must have mastered the tech like they did the diesel engine tech.

Indeed, this is a heavily upgraded and modified Type 39 B update version... stable and time-tested platform with PN-specific needs and future upgrades. It gives me immense pleasure and honor to say Hangor is unmatched in this region for a long time. And this is not an emotional statement at all. Wait well deserved, hunter well delivered. Now PN needs to master it as soon as possible.

This one area I am very curious about [AIP]. Lots of rumors and no details. If all rumors are correct, it can remain submerged for 30+ days, but not sure what the actual is. Let's hope for the best... and why not.

it didn't. Karachi was attacked by fast speed boats then the enemy returned. Though, even if they had blocked it after the surprise attack, I am afraid we couldn't have done anything immediately.
Hmm. So if Indians decide to next time use their Navy to interdict Pakistan's shipping lanes, while again sending fast speed boats to harass the harbors, what can Pakistan do now ? With the subs we should be able to hit the ships blocking the sea lanes but for the fast attack boats ?

We have so many capabilities right now. IN attacked at night time. Those boats were comparatively fast, at about 50-60% of normal ships.
Even in 71, if those boats were detected, the attack could have been thwarted.

Between Stirling and Fuel Cell, we're basically weighing very quiet with totally quiet. The PN wanted fuel cell via the Type 214, but went ahead with China's Stirling stack as that was quite mature and proven.

Is there going to be a little more noise due to the moving parts of Stirling? Yes, sure, but the PN also weighed that the Hangors will operate in fairly busy waters, so there's enough masking to make that minor acoustic leak a non-issue in practical terms. There might be some other factors at play which we'll never know about either, e.g., possible use of lithium-ion batteries with the AIP.

However, we will likely see a Fuel Cell AIP solution come via the SWATS and next-gen SSKs, but the mission intent for those will be absolute silence.
