Hegseth Calls Urgent Meeting For All Generals

Well hard to tell most people even on US side as retired generals have stated it is "Un usual " as it has never happened before

So lot of chatter

I guess Trump is preparing to abolish some overseas bases, to further strategic contraction and save some military expenses.

Also things are not going well with Russia..Trump just called them a paper tiger..and said the Ukraine can take back all its land from Russian and even more with the Help of NATO and the EU..

In a new $90 billion deal with the US..Ukraine even asked for Tomahawk missiles..

Nothing to worry about this is more about anti-woke culture war then any crisis

Probably ask them to take down the LGBTQ flag during Pride Month or something...

It's not. Here is what's going on:
1) Force restructing for better competition with China
2) Change in tactics (old school cold war, then WOT) to now 21st century warfare, goals, and changes
3) Pacific - New focus of the US military and posturing
4) New weapons induction, old weapons retiring
5) Global changes, power centers re-shaping (for example Saudi-Pak defense agreement, Russia, China, India issues)

Overall, there are 838 total general officers and admirals on active duty -- 446 of them are from the higher two-star, three-star and four-star ranks -- according to the Pentagon's latest statistics from June, though it is difficult to ascertain a breakdown of how many officers are in command positions versus staff ...1 day ago

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to tell hundreds of generals about the 'warrior ...

Doubtful this will have anything to do about a potential conflict / military strike / invasion by little grey aliens / etc. More like SecDef, or is it SecWar now, who knows, calling everyone into the room to let them hear there will be changes.

Hegseth has made it abundantly clear the upper ranks are too bloated and he aims to cut layers from the O-7 level and up.
800++

A LTC friend of mine, who is a COS of a 4-star, told me Hegseth's meeting is how to shape the military into his "Vision" of warfighter......

To which my friend laughs.......
And why not share his vision. Virtually every SecDef has a vision.

I find it odd how people laugh at Hegseth yet unlike Panetta, Hegseth has actual experience. There have been other SecDefs who were of similar rank to Hegseth and they were called "brilliant choices" at the time along with the couple of civilians who served as SecDef.

For now, he's the boss. The short colonel can either get on board or retire. I know a couple O-4s and an O-5 who chose to retire because they weren't into all that DEI crap that was being forced upon them.

I got 'DOGEd' six months ago, and am jobless and fighting fraudsters since then, and I shouldn't be the only one in this situation. You know: 'Misery loves company', so 'bring it on', Mr. Hegseth!! Hahaha!

If you have to know.....

First of all, my friend said he presented it like a high school project with MS PowerPoint.........

Secondly, the culture of "Warfighter" is set in 200 years of fighting as the US fighting force, not from some SecDef to design and agree on. It's like someone comes to West Point and said, "Hey, all your culture is shit, now change it." Because it didn't jive with the SecDef or even POTUS's own image of what a Miltiary Academy should be.

You don't touch the warrior culture, regardless of how left-wing or right-wing it can be.......For us vet, it's like suddenly your Purple Heart does not have the same meaning it had because you weren't fighting hard enough or you are not "soldiery" enough, and I have 3 of those.

That is beside the point of whether or not he is a good SecDef.

I don't know what you are really trying to say here? That the Sec. of Defense doesn't have his own views? I believe they do as far as implementing policies dictated by the Commander in Chief, which is the US President. They can decide to keep or remove certain posts or posts as they would know more about the lower level then the POTUS would.
And the 'warrior culture' you are talking about was also dented by Bill Clinton when he closed some military bases. This country military is too bloated--it has become a killing machine around the world to enrich the fat a$$es in Washington, DC while also churning out tens of thousands of 'veterans' who are as far removed from any real threat as I am being from a Martian! I personally know a few of such 'veterans' and attended some funerals of such as 'brave' veterans with the bugle and the flag draped coffins. It is all about $$$ and careers for most of them. So I welcome President Trump to stop the bloat and give the hard working Americans some chance for decent lives with jobs and distancing from the wars which eat into Americans' lives!

They are called Military "Tradition" for a reason.

I am not talking about Policy here, such as closing bases, DEI hiring, or setting up women in combat roles. I am talking about things that make a warfighter.

He is literally telling a bunch of 30+ TIS generals what it is to be a soldier...Dude, I was born in the same year as him, and he outranks me by one rank only (I was a captain, he was a major), and I had been in the shit more than him, and if I go to a bunch of Generals and tell them what makes a soldier, my friend would have laughed at me too.

Had to pee myself laughing
When you said Russia china and India issues

India is nobody or no military threat to any body

China is super power and USA generals meeting for a major super power show down conference makes sense X

Russia threat to NATO makes sense

Middle east makes sense if they are contracting bases

But India is a trade tariff disagreement ...India is not a threat to anyone a definitely not worthy of calling all USA generals from four corners of the world

Heck we Indians can't even protect line on control
