- If you go to China, you'll never ever see the world the same way again.

- China modernity now is well in advance of anything in the West

- Chinese government is hugely more advanced than what you get in America, they know how to run things.

- China is already a great power, you can't understand it thru Western prism and you should not expect to understand it in those term.

- I would argue that China is now probably the global leader more important than USA.

Do we see the complete China, the good and the ugly? Or do we only see what China wants the world to see?

How is China's government more advanced than the US? If it's about getting things done, then China is the best because it's a one-party authoritarian state with top-down control. Nothing messy like democracy getting its way. If the government wants to do something, it will do it, damn what the people think. If this is advanced, China can have it.

China is a great power but not yet a superpower. They lack the will to act on their policies and only rely on limp diplomatic protests. They did nothing regarding Venezuela, Israel, and Iran.

Martin Jacques was very famous.

He wrote a book about modern China back in 2009, before anyone knew anything about China.

When everyone was still sceptical about China, when everyone thought China will collapse.

He predicted China will become a country as we know today.

So, when it comes to China, I think no one knows better than him.

To predict the future, you need to see beyond the street and the building, you need to see the thing that can't be seen with naked eyes.

And he sees and understand China.

Martin Jacques is a Marxist of note, so it's no surprise he's pro-China. He's just one of many Marxists who have twisted themselves into an ideological pretzel in order to reconcile what China has become -- a "socialist market economy". In essence, China has only progressed because it has embraced capitalism.

You only embrace Jacques due to confirmation bias. He's no soothsayer or sage.

Yes, a real shockeroo that they walked up to an ardent Marxist and he says things are supa-dupa in China. They can interview Noam Chomsky next.

Martin Jacques (born 1945) is a British academic, journalist, political commentator and writer. He first came to prominence as the editor of Marxism Today,

It's okay. This is Peak China anyway, let them enjoy it for a few years while they can. Demographic trends do not lie.

The question is why is there this perpetual need on PDF to scour for white people giving China a thumbs up.

China’s current political stance is pretty good: all resources and energy are focused domestically.
As for international affairs, let those who want to fight or kill do so—what does it have to do with China? Let the United States play the role of world police.

It is no secret that China sees everybody and everything outside of its borders as basically space aliens. That's why every post by Chinese members here on PDF has the word "China" in the title.

It's always China vs everybody else...never ever hinting of any type of shared mankind mentality.

You are absolutely right. China is primarily concerned with its own development and the continuous improvement of its people’s living standards. China has no interest in pursuing global hegemony.

Especially when it comes to conflicts far from China, such as the Gaza conflict and wars in the Middle East, China does not wish to intervene in distant wars.

However, we hope the United States will also understand that, globally speaking, apart from China and the United States themselves, many other countries may hope to benefit from Sino-American conflict by using tensions between the two powers to advance their own interests. If the United States fails to recognize this, the situation could become very dangerous.
