Standards in UK went down quite fast my cousin's kids are back home on long term visa (UK citizens) to study in a Central board school. I still believe they got higher education figured out though.

Ummm well when bodyshops created a reliable funnel it was not an open market, the process and type of worker needed was hardly "type a", given the work we are told they did and not exposed to wider competition

Let's see how employment trends go.

As someone whose spend close to two decades in the states, working in a top 1% job, here are my 2 cents:
1) The bodyshops created a downward effect on talent pool (skills wise) so closing the perms to them is a good start
2) Many skilled workers had to go back or seek alternatives because they could not get H1-B lotteries
3) Now, the balance will shift towards skilled workers (slightly), because even without PERM many Indians will apply for H1-Bs through those companies - on average an Indian can save 20-30 lacs/year so in six years that is a big amount. Plus these folks can change to different companies who can file PERMs - there are a lot of ways this can work...

The wait and see approach, at times hope and see has taken perception of agency away from India, demonstrably the Americans have actual agency here but maybe India should have cut it's losses sooner, accepter it's over and then just focused on actively reclaiming back the Indians, that means incentives, creating a softer landing etc

It's no doubt a cruel situation some Indians are in

Not anymore, it's just too tempting to use, it might look ok now but in years to come depth of people will reduce, you will have an intellectual elite who can leverage ai to produce research but if you want to maintain standards you also have to weed out those who blagged via ai

Trump or no Trump, I think we were heading this way anyway. With AI and robotics moving so fast, the world could need a lot less human labour and knowledge work over the next few decades. It’s something everyone will have to deal with, not just educated Indians abroad.

Where India got it wrong was not getting its act together sooner and growing fast enough. We should’ve been an middle income country by now.
