India Emerges as key diesel supplier to Turkiye amid Russia Middle East disruptions

You should have a Twitter account, honestly, just be yourself, a spin off from your forum persona

It was all over. I was out. Clean and detoxed riding away to the sunset in a convertible but then someone convinced India that Operation Sindoor can be more than just a Bollywood script.

I was the same.

No surprise. Turks play all sides and are ruthless practitioners of realpolitik.

India may be best placed to fill a China-sized hole in fuel exports

India is bound to overtake US as worlds largest oil exporter if Iran war continues

Same here.... I had almost weened myself off of it all, and these yindus sucked me back in.

Indian refiners are already at peak capacity utilization and adding capacity takes years and billions of dollars. So, no chance of that happening anytime soon.

maybe in future if we increase capacity but not now.
You're looking at the oil industry through the lens of crude-oil refining alone. India already blends 20% ethanol into petrol, and that changes the equation. India's energy-export potential isn't limited to how much crude oil its refineries can process; it also depends on how much alternative fuel it can produce, blend and export.

India could expand both petroleum refining and ethanol production, using domestically produced or imported feedstock wherever economically viable. The industrial processing, infrastructure, jobs and value addition would remain in India, even if raw materials comes from abroad. Depending on engine compatibility, fuel standards and market demand, different ethanol blends, or dedicated ethanol fuels, could serve different markets.

India has already demonstrated that it can scale ethanol blending to 20% ahead of its original target. The next step is to expand the broader fuel ecosystem: refineries, ethanol plants, advanced biofuels, storage, ports and export logistics.

The ambition shouldn't be limited to becoming a bigger exporter of refined petroleum. India could position itself as the world's largest suppliers of liquid transport fuels by combining petroleum products with biofuels. Becoming the single largest supplier an integrated, multi-fuel export industry.

India can aim for $100 billion in annual fuel exports by 2030 and $200 billion by 2040. Even after the war ends, damage to Gulf energy infrastructure and prolonged supply-chain disruptions could create opportunities for India to expand its role as a global fuel supplier.

While $200 billion may seem modest against India's $1 trillion Total exports, it would be a massive industrial achievement, creating millions of jobs across refining, ethanol, biofuels, manufacturing, logistics and shipping while boosting wages and per capita income.

A competitive multi-fuel industry could also strengthen India's energy security, reduce import dependence and lower domestic fuel costs, supporting consumption and economic growth.

India must look beyond conventional oil refining and turn this global energy disruption into a long-term opportunity to build a worlds largest fuel-export industry.
