India inks 10-year deal to operate Iran's Chabahar port

India did non-alignment during Cold War era as it did not want to be drawn in the power competition games of Western or Soviet bloc. But when Soviet bloc collapsed in 1990, India had no choice but to tilt more towards West for its own benefit. And lately, Chinese aggression against India on the borders is further pushing India towards the west. India is still not strong enough to completely reject western pressure on every issue. India has to do a careful trade-off on issues.
Similarly, Iran has to decide whats best for Iran. They have inked the 10 year deal with India because it is beneficial for them too. You say there is no difference between India and Pakistan. That is upto Iranian leadership to decide. The world chooses India for business. Even China does. Hope Iran does too, but no one is forcing Iran.
India was two-timing both sides even during cold war. It's non-alignment stance was a facade to say the least and put in practice to betray the global south. It's non-alignment leadership was to shield the western colonial powers with controlled opposition so the colonial project will continue unabeted with a veneer of legitimacy. It pleaded and begged the powers that be to get little colonial project of its own to be shored up and rescued whenever they turned into disasters.

I think you are confusing Pakistan with India. I remember Pakistani leadership begged US to support its colonial project in East Pak (Bangladesh).

Seems very bizarre for them to have that short of a memory.
India and iran were both non aligned nations and at one point had excellent political and economic relations, but that all began to fall apart in the late 2000s/early 2010s with india abandoning non alignment in favor of cozying up to israel and the us.
I imagine the rise of hindu fascism and its adulation of zionism, plus the fear of a rising china that india couldnt seem to match, all had a big part to play in this.
Probably the real rupture with iran was india going along with the west and its vassals in voting to impose un sanctions on iran over its civilian nuclear program and then taking full advantage of those sanctions to delay paying for that oil,or iran having no choice but to barter for stuff it barely needed.
Ironically this delayed chabahar by well over a decade, that and indias glacially slow pace of work at the port ensured that the indians never were able to achieve their goals of eroding pakistani influence/increasing indian influence in afghanistan, before the collapse of the western occupation and its local puppet regime.

I`ve no doubt that Gandhi is spinning like a turbine in his tomb right now seeing the direction hindutva india is going in,but there you go....

The irony is that in real terms theres now little to no difference politically between india AND pakistan as far as iran is concerned,as BOTH nations are now us vassals.
So that should,in theory,simplify relations.:sneaky:
Gandhi used to say ," If muslims want to kill Hindus, dont retaliate. Let them kill you."
We dont follow that coward's philosophy anymore. Also Gandhi was cremated , not burried, so no turbine for you.
You better keep shut about topics you have zero ideas about.

You are still ruled by westerners through your army. Pakistan was the real western colonial project to prevent Soviets from coming to India ocean. Thats why them come supporting you during 71' , even sent carriers for you.

So, is this Indian contract to develop and operate the Iranian port an Indian debt trap on Iran as Indians all like to call China's involvement in Gwadar port in Pakistan and Hambantota port in Sri Lanka as such ? Lol.

For starters Iran does not borrow money like your typical poodle - Pakistan, Sri Lanka of the world

I do not think Pakistan is ruled by the West. Now the Pakistani elite is willing to sell themselves for a few pennies. That is a different topic

Correct!.......Irani are pretty fukkin switched on.....they actually do care about their country and want the best deal for themselves. A clear as day sign of being sovereign........no shit. China offered them half a trillion in investments as opposed to only $24 billion (invested thus far in CPEC).....and these Irani still reading the T's n C's and relying on their past experience/ track record on contract vs actual benefit analysis in dealing with China.

Wish my country was as competent as these Irani.

You go to Iran, its like a fairly reasonable country like one of them in eastern Europe.....no riff raff....low crime and above all an educated/ low population country.
