Seems very bizarre for them to have that short of a memory.
India and iran were both non aligned nations and at one point had excellent political and economic relations, but that all began to fall apart in the late 2000s/early 2010s with india abandoning non alignment in favor of cozying up to israel and the us.
I imagine the rise of hindu fascism and its adulation of zionism, plus the fear of a rising china that india couldnt seem to match, all had a big part to play in this.
Probably the real rupture with iran was india going along with the west and its vassals in voting to impose un sanctions on iran over its civilian nuclear program and then taking full advantage of those sanctions to delay paying for that oil,or iran having no choice but to barter for stuff it barely needed.
Ironically this delayed chabahar by well over a decade, that and indias glacially slow pace of work at the port ensured that the indians never were able to achieve their goals of eroding pakistani influence/increasing indian influence in afghanistan, before the collapse of the western occupation and its local puppet regime.
I`ve no doubt that Gandhi is spinning like a turbine in his tomb right now seeing the direction hindutva india is going in,but there you go....
The irony is that in real terms theres now little to no difference politically between india AND pakistan as far as iran is concerned,as BOTH nations are now us vassals.
So that should,in theory,simplify relations.
