India on alert as Bangladesh-Pakistan defence ties deepen

Indian security and intelligence agencies are closely monitoring a fresh round of military engagement between Bangladesh and Pakistan, amid concerns that Dhaka’s deepening defence cooperation with Islamabad and Beijing could alter regional security dynamics.

On August 16, a ten-member team of senior Bangladeshi Army officers, led by Quarter Master General Lieutenant General Faizur Rahman, departed for Islamabad. The delegation includes Brigadier General Kazi ASM Shahriar Pervez, Brigadier General Mohammad Abdul Aziz, and several other senior officers.
Documents indicate that the visit was arranged at the invitation of the Pakistan High Commission’s Defence Wing in Dhaka on August 8. The team is scheduled to return on August 24.

Indian intelligence sources say the timing of the visit is particularly significant, coming just days before Bangladesh Army chief General Waker-uz-Zaman travels to Beijing from August 22 to 25 at the initiative of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Pattern of growing defence engagements
This is not the first high-level interaction between the two armies this year. In January, a Bangladeshi delegation led by Lt Gen Kamrul Hassan met Pakistan Army chief General Asim Munir in Islamabad. Soon after, a three-member Pakistan ISI team headed by a Major General visited Dhaka.

Indian agencies believe the August 16 visit marks a continuation of this trend, with both sides aiming to push defence ties to what officials describe as “new heights.”
The Bangladeshi officers are scheduled to tour Pakistan Army’s ordnance factories and sensitive establishments where air defence systems, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), and missile systems are developed and stockpiled. They will also visit facilities specialising in the maintenance and overhaul of MI-series helicopters.

The stated objectives include gaining first-hand experience of advanced defence technologies, evaluating UAV systems for long-range tactical missions, and exploring joint innovations. Sources say discussions may also include technology exchange that could provide “strategic heft” to Bangladesh’s armed forces.

India’s concerns over strategic shifts
Indian security officials are concerned that the rapid expansion of Bangladesh’s defence cooperation with Pakistan—coupled with growing military ties with China and Turkey—could lead to a strategic realignment in the neighbourhood.

“The developments warrant close scrutiny. Bangladesh’s outreach to Pakistan’s military-industrial complex, especially in areas like UAVs and missile systems, has direct security implications for India,” said a senior Indian intelligence officer.

Officials also note that these exchanges come at a sensitive time, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to visit Kolkata on August 22 to inaugurate three metro services, just 100 km from the Bangladesh border. Security agencies have already been placed on the highest alert.

Interim regime driving military expansion
Since the Mohammad Yunus-led interim regime assumed office on August 8, 2024, Bangladesh’s armed forces have accelerated efforts to expand capabilities. The government has been actively pursuing defence cooperation not just with Pakistan and China, but also with Turkey and the United States.
For India, analysts say, the challenge lies in balancing diplomatic ties with Dhaka while ensuring that these new military linkages do not undermine New Delhi’s security calculus in the eastern theatre.

So indians are allowed to wreck havoc; be genocidal maniacs; commit subversive activities across the region and beyond; do everything for their own interests but when Bangladesh or Pakistan just form normal relations, the indians have a meltdown. Entitled, hypocritical brats who think they can rule the region. Do these indians ACTUALLY believe they are a "superior race".......... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

The cretins and retards at dawn newspaper who call for peace and subservience to india perhaps need the above explained to them.

Another billion dollars export deal incoming for Pakistan!
First it was Azerbaijan then Sudan and now hopefully Bangladesh!!!
India is probably feeling like a jealous ex GF.
JF-17 or J-10 in Bangladeshi Airforce will be very interesting development, given the high probability of a defection or India getting acees to these platforms through a friendly government

BD and Pakistan have all the right and reasons in the world to have closer ties. If it were not for India playing the spoiler, this alignment would have come a long time ago.
India's policy of "divide and retain influence" has run aground.
Who will explain to that donkey Modi and his army of sheeple that talking peace and normalizing with Pakistan is a net gain for the region and India.
All these Indian insecurities will fall by the wayside if his extremist, Hindu fundamentalist mindset gets a reset. I know this is an impossibility but worth calling out that Pakistan has always been willing to negotiate. Modi's dead-end policy of "talks and terror cannot go together" (while criminally and hypocritically funding terrorism against Pakistan) has no takers around the globe any longer.
In all likelihood, the bare minimum that Pakistan will have to accept is the recognition of the current Line of Control as the international border and the complete abandonment of any emotional, military, diplomatic, or other support for secessionist movements in Kashmir. Slogans like “Kashmir banega Pakistan” or “Kashmir is our jugular vein” are now nothing more than hollow rhetoric, with no real ability on Pakistan’s part to alter the situation in its favor.

Until this reality is acknowledged and a pragmatic approach towards a genuinely possible solution is adopted, the status quo will continue unchanged.

The US military has many times said that they are working on the network integration like the one we showed in combat.
Dude, you can crack someone really well. Have you heard about JADC2?

Anyway, keep the humour going

No major defence deal will happen until a democratic govt is in place.

BNP is likely to be the next govt and they used to be friendly with Pakistan in the past under Khaleda Zia's leadership. However, lately there has been an intrusion of pro India leaders in BNP's top hierarchy. So it needs to be seen if the relationship with Pakistan continues to improve or not after the election.
The fact that there's been numerous India-friendly statements from certain BNP leaders since August 5, the fact that hardcore anti-Indians like Babar are sidelined, and ofcourse the fact that people like Salahuddin, who chilled in a bungalow in India provided by RAW while his party member got murdered by BAL, is still a big-shot BNP leader, means I have absolutely 0 hope for BNP.
Tareq seems fine, but he's isolated. And Khaleda Zia is medically indisposed. The India-friendly faction is currently in control.

I disagree that Kashmir is a lost cause. It feels more like Pakistan's current leadership, civil and military is a lost cause. They seem to be too afraid to rock the boat and provoke India. All the while, India is supporting unknown gunmen assassinations in Pakistan, supports KP and Baloch terrorists to carry out regular attacks against Pakistan law enforcement and military.

@LeonBlack08

It is called realism, Leon. BNP is the govt in waiting- it knows that friendly relationship with IND is required for BD's economic growth, not PAK.

Regards
Realism is realising that India cannot be trusted under any circumstances for being a friend. The reason why BNP is getting close to India is the same as BAL.
In my country, the only concern politicians have is how to get power and how to keep that power. They know is they appease their Indian overlords, the Indian government will help keep them in power, like they did with BAL.

That is the only concern politicians have all over the world. If not, they shouldn't be in politics.

Friendly relationship with India does not equate to having individuals who put Indian interest above that of Bangladesh.

There's a line. BAL crossed it, we saw their eventual downfall. If BNP follows the same route, they will receive a similar fate eventually.

For BNP best thing would be to be friendly with India for trade and commerce, but counter it with strategic partnerships with Pakistan and China.

Secessionist support will only stop if the native Kashmiris feel they have their own voice and are not being dictated to by ND. Pakistan could align on the LoC as the IB but first the Kashmiris have to be allowed to maintain their own nationhood, identity without it being demographically supplanted by Indians from the mainland.

Also, it's easy to come up with maximalist positions. I.e., "Pakistan should abandon its stance" and only then India will accede to accepting LoC as the IB as if that is a favor to Pakistan, Kashmiris be damned. That goes nowhere as the past 70+ years have shown. Kashmir is not Hyderabad or Junagardh, it was and is an internationally accepted disputed territory.

The defense of BD lies in Pak's offensive posture against Bharat. For every X amount of Pak's added capability Bharat needs to allocate resources to counter it with 3X of that. Elhamdulillah, not a single day passes without Pak's showing a new offensive capability....

Pakistan military, is the most up to date in warfare, battle hardened, and has the most experience at this point. The short India-Pakistan war saw the top line tech, tactics and weapons work like they teach in warfare schools these days as "theory". Pakistan military used those same tactics in practicality. These tactics aren't deployed in Russia or Israel-Iran war. The US military has many times said that they are working on the network integration like the one we showed in combat.

So many nations should now seek our Pakistan military's consulting services in "how to create the best functional military". We can design military doctrines for other nations. Bangladesh is one.

Sadly, poor Indians are always on alert. I don't even know if they sleep. 2025 has brought in terrible luck and significant changes for India. From East to West, it's embarrassment, bad reputation and insults for India.

May be it should realize the gas in the balloon is out and that the world knows its not that "big power" it was trying to project itself to be. Indian bubble myth's created by Bollywood movies have been burst globally.
+ she has got enormous capacity to absorb pains in terms of men and materials to realize her strategic goals. And, she's got patience. As for others, death = defeat....

Both countries have played their part in supporting insurgency in the other. Pakistan did all it could in Kashmir, Khalistan, and to a certain extent in Northeast India, while India is now returning the favour. The difference is that India has far greater resources to deploy, and Pakistan has even more fault lines waiting to be exploited

I really get bamboozled by these high-horse statements. From which lofty pedestal does a Pakistani dare to take a moral high ground on Kashmiris? I typically avoid commenting on internal matters, but I can’t help being amused by this self-righteous posturing—especially when the state of Pakistan and its 250 million people have been under quasi-dictatorial control since inception. You have a fractured society, where the most popular leader has been jailed for years, and 250 million citizens are ruled by an army strongman who should have retired long ago.

So, what exactly are you offering the Kashmiris—freedom? economic opportunity? religious tolerance? respect? What, really?

India may be a mess in many ways, but for the Kashmiris, we are still a better option than Pakistan.

The defence of Bangladesh rests solely on maintaining a friendly relationship with India—there is no alternative. Pakistan is in no position to support Bangladesh’s defensive requirements, just as it wasn’t 55 years ago when Bangladesh was still part of Pakistan proper
