India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

People who thought Op Sindoor had a major impact on Chinese policy- I had said then too, there are 200 million people involved in indistries affected by Tarriffs. It was a sideshow for Chinese policy makers and looks like for India policy makers too.

Business overcomes all interests I guess

Yu Jing, spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in New Delhi, cited the Hindu editorial on X, quoting its declaration that India’s “foreign policy choices cannot be manipulated by other countries, no matter how significant their own ties with India are.” The move signals rare diplomatic alignment between Beijing and New Delhi at a time when both are grappling with rising U.S. trade hostility.

@Fatman17 @Nilgiri I know there is a thread on tarriff but this is a very important Foriagn Policy development and needs separate discussion. THis also explains Mod visit to China and major coordination against Tariff.s

I had heard China had been asking for coordination for several months and now looks like they're getting it.
I don't know how this came about- but there must be a back end deal on this.

India’s sovereignty is non-negotiable': China backs Delhi as Trump threatens tariff hike

Click bait thread. What he means is 'India’s sovereignty is non-negotiable' (read for Indians). It does not mean China has no objections to Indian definition of its ' geographic sovereignty'. Here it merely means 'independent decision making'.....

Shouldn't the Chinese be visiting you then? Not India going to China.
looks like for India policy makers too.
Pakistan has always maintained that OP Sindoor was orchestrated on the backend of a false flag operation by India.

If true, that's the right stance by China in every way. Also, if China is indeed saying this, it makes China appear as the dominant player - one that demands respect for others' sovereignty. Of course, this paints India as a subordinate. So, Indians should not be relishing this.

what this means is that China doesn't f**ing care what happened in Op sindoor.

What they want is a united push against Tariff and you have instead agreed to a deal with US. What strange times we live in.

Why would they care about OP Sindoor?

Will BRICs be the platform or SCO that would challenge the US tariffs? Will you sign a joint statement or refuse it like you did a month ago?

I fully support not signining any decllaration with China.

But that's for policy makers to decide. They'll review the situation and decide what is best approach for now.

How come you always find yourself in the wrong side of history?

a) Imran Khan visits putin when Russia invades Ukraine
b) ISI chief in Kabul when US leaves
c) Army Chief in white house when world battling a Tarriff war

Timing is always impeccable.

That's what everyone had been saying for years but Indians chose to elect a hardcore Hindu Extremist Government three times in a row. Why?

That Hindu Extremist Government kept telling the population that India was already a great power and it will soon become a Super Power. How on Earth 1.4 billion people be fooled so easily? It's not the 1800s.

Do you remember the videos and articles written by Indians questioning whether China can catch up to India? I thought 2010s was a really bombastic period in India and the population fully supported it.
Completely wrong and inaccurate analysis.

India is a democracy and the democratic process has its own ways to pan out.

Modi is disliked across the border and is understandable. Even I would have hated him if I was staying across.
I don’t want to dwell on this issue either because it would end up into your word against yours and usual tu tu mai mai.

It is usual for a nation to create hope and positivity. It is done through real work on ground and telling the nation that we are marching ahead.

When you exhort a nation to put their best then you have to do it by telling them that future is bright, if, we work towards it.

I hope you remember IK when he had said ‘ghbrana nahi hai”. Trump can say “ let’s make America great again”.
Even Xi, had made similar slogans to motivate the Chinese to work towards the nations well being.

But when Modi says anything of this sort, it becomes fooling the nation?

Indian democracy has come this far through many ups and downs but has stood tall. No General or dictator has been able to subvert it like Pakistan. The difference is starkly clear.

India is marching ahead on each and every matrix and there is no stopping. It is not Modi but our democratic process that is held in high regard by so called 1.4 billion fools. Same fools have defeated BJP in many states. These same fools had taught Indira a lesson in 1979 and to many others many times.
These 1.4 billion may not be as smart as few nations in the neighbourhood but all are not equal. God made some of you better than us.

We will live with it.

Modi’s time will also come when this lot of 1.4 billion decide. May not be as per your timelines but it will.

Truth is bitch slapping in Sindoor followed by Trumps body blows has brought Modi and co to their senses. They are part of the global south not the global north & need to act like it. Long overdue.
Now you have Indians here shamelessly suggesting that China India friendship was always the plan😂if so prey explain what Quad was all about.
The Indian debacle of Sindoor is critically important in all this as it showed the world including China and the US, India’s aukat.
China beat India into submission without ever firing a shot.

The topic is about US tariffs and Chinese intervention for India. What's with discussing Pakistan.
