India produces 5 times the automotives that Turkey produces. So India is already a production superpower Turkey cannot match.
But Indian market is so huge that we have problems producing even for domestic needs.

I look forward to the day when only Indian companies sell in India. That in itself would be enough. Very soon India will be third biggest consumer market in world. Indian companies can have their fill.

Anyway, you've changed tack from exports figures to domestic market?

I don't have to defend India's track record from a country whose total automotivs manufacturing strength is less than 20% of India's. There are single companies in India that can outmatch the total automotive production of Turkey.

It is a joke and an insult to bring it into this picture, especially when Turrkey repeatedly fails against the more capable player in their region - Greece.

Pakistan should have a stretch goal to compete with Turkey in 20 years.

Do people forget that cars aren't the only vehicles? India is the world's largest producer of 2 wheelers, 3 wheelers and even tractors (if it is to be considered one). Yes 2/3 wheelers are cheaper but he didn't specify "cars" specifically.
