Even if its deployed. They will keep it close to Mumbai or even further back. Risk of losing it are far greater than any benefits it could provide. Indian carrier is a power projection tool for far off seas. However, it will become relevant after few yrs once its armed with Rafales. A carrier itself has no lethal capability, currently Indian carrier can only employ obsolete mig-29s and that too with limited weapons & fuel (because of no catapult). Those mig-29s will likely face JF-17 block 3s (which have arrived at No.8 Squadron few months back). So no comparison whatsoever. Currently, Indian carrier with mig-29s is a more of a liability.
