Bad start. Now Pakistan have justification. It was all about water from the start. Clearly look like inside job now. Chances of Pak army ordering this attack is now 0. Good luck trying to stop/divert our water. You just made Asim a popular COAS and Pakistanis fighting over canals will stop.

that would destabilize our economy ,particularly at a time when
we need to make critical investments in some sectors ,we can't bear the burden of a useless war at this critical moment,

Steps Pak can take

1) Naturally respond the same in terms of Indian citizens and diplomats in India
2) Stop all overflights
3) Stop and search all Indian registered ships leaving Persian Gulf
4) Massively increase armed support for all rebel groups in India

I had assumed that they would use a revocation of the IWT as a preventative measure against a Pakistani retaliation....but clearly not.

They may be willing to take the gloves off entirely here. In the long run, China will however develop dam systems in Tibet to counter any potential Indian Damming too.
If Pakistan is made to suffer through damming of the Indus then China will almost definitely do the same to India, so this situation is in gridlock right now essentially.

Despite all their bluster and bravado, India is in no state to fight a war or initiate one.
India has brought this episode upon itself.
Kill Pakistanis in Baluchistan by signalling out their ethnicity again & again & you end up with Pahlagam.

Babus in Delhi can climb up the pole as long as they can spin & manage their embarrassment afterwards.

Similar claims were made for Israel and the US only for both powers to cripple Iraq and Syria and turn the tide on the Axis of Resistance and now Iran is vulnerable. India is a much larger country with much larger economy than Pakistan with more tools and options at its disposal to hurt Pakistan in a prolonged clash. Word is that India has suspended Indus Water Treaty. Now it remains to be seen what role other countries can play in reducing tensions between Pakistan and India or what position different countries will take in this developing situation. These are bad times.
