The first crew module test will happen by end of this year!!! It will be launched into orbit, recovered and then the data will be analyzed to check if all systems are working for human flight. If everything goes well, then we will see the final mission with a person going into orbit.

Last week they did dress reharsal with Navy on recovering the crew module after recovering from space.

They already did the parachute tests - guess designwise everything is fine.

This was the Pad recovery test. I guess the final rocket wiill look like a GSLV Mk3 with this 'thing' attached to the top. We will see it in a few days on the launch pad!!

Don't be a copycat. Leapfrog others and go straight to a robotic mission. A congressman is suggesting that NASA should do that for Mars. With the pace of AI, in a decade, we can have robotic 'humans' that will be far better astronauts than any human astronauts. It sounds utterly wasteful to invest so much for human exploration. It will be like you build Apollo and send a chimpanzee or dog (in 1969).

It has no scientific value., It is just a boondoggle. They may send a rocket or two and stop it after that. The future belongs to intelligent robots for exploration. Humans are too weak and incapable for anything beyond short trip to moon. Look at our Mars, other planetary exploration, asteroid sample return - all are spectacular successes. Artemis is a giant scandal. STS stands for Senate Transportation System.

Space programs are not only for science. Robots are good for science (and we've built a fair share of them). Human space program is for international policy and getting people excited about space/science. All this is core for a succesful space program.

A plain vanilla manned space flight may not mean much but creates a buzz and excitement among youngsters into taking up sciences, including space sciences in a big way. Plus get entrepreneurs also interested.

There's nothing 'plain' about manned space programs.

Only 3 countries have done it till now in 80 years. Becoming the 4th country is a massive achievement. India will legit be playing at the highest levels and
-Space station has been announced so this is a definite requirement for that
- Moon capable rocket has been announced, so this project will be a key milestone for final go / no go decision on that program.
