in next 3-4 years induction list (ships wt 4k ton + only considered)
Destroyers - 0 nos
Frigates - 3 nos (Talwar Class - 2 nos, Nilgiri-class - 1 nos)
Corvettes - 0 nos

IN should have ordered followup 4+4 for Nilgiri & Visakhapatnam, between 2026-30 shipyards will be building ASuW, MCMV & MPV without any large capital ships.

Unfortunately navy who is much better compared to army and airforce in taking decisions and executing them sadly on submarines they have behaved same as airforce.... full of laxity on submarines....

Navy needs 8-10 SSBNs, 12-15 SSNs & 24-36 SSKs so without continues orders, gaps between older vs newly inducted submarines will widen.

NGC is actually a step up over the Talwar/Tushil-class ships in terms of sensors, radars and overall weapon suite.

Both the S5 SSBN and SSN programs are already in the works, so there’s not much to worry about there. Indian Navy is likely still finalizing the design configuration for the P17B class. Once the design is frozen and approved, it will be passed to the GoI for contract signing.
ATVP has already begun construction of the first two units of the S5 SSBNs, which at 13,500 tons are twice the size of the Arihant-class submarines. The first S5 will enter service in the early 2030s.

Then there's the upcoming NGMV class for the Indian Navy. They may be missile vessels on paper but they'll be carrying BrahMos and VLSRSAM which is a serious punch for a ship of that size. For the first time, they'll also use an indigenous multi-function radar to guide the VLSRSAM. Add the water-jet propulsion system for high speed and sharp maneuvering and these won't be ordinary missile boats. They'll be small, fast and heavily armed.

we need both type Frigates

Talwar type power pack filled 4k-5k Tons Frigates for AC escorts and Niligiri class 7k Tons Frigates for patrolling seas/pirates/escorts for ships during crisis filling in for P-15 destroyers role, and we need these in large numbers, atleast 30+ in batches.

progress of construction of SSBNs & SSNs are satisfactory but we need indigenous SSKs in larger numbers. It feels like IN thinks importing SSKs & JV is better for now.
