Indian Navy News & Discussions

Ink them fast. Indian Navy desperately needs more SSKs in meaningful nos. Project 77A appears to be progressing well but conventional SSKs are the immediate need of the hour.

I've read that DRDO has developed advanced high power lithium-ion batteries to replace the traditional lead acid batteries used in conventional SSKs. Even compared to AIP, it offers better endurance.

Even deploying just 1-2 U-boats near Malacca or Sunda Straits can force a rival navy to dedicate a disproportionate amount of resources to ASW. The mere possibility of an unseen U-boat operating in the area can complicate the plans of an entire CBG armada.
Yeah.... hope we ink them faster and additional 3 are S80s.... even if they're again U boats then again they are welcomed....

Bruh, the S-80 is Spanish. That'll be a logistics headache. We'll end up with 3 different Western subs types, making maintenance, training and spare parts much more complicated. Even the Spanish Navy operates them in small nos and from what I've heard, the S-80 also uses lots of imported parts especially from the US.
