I visited South Asia last year. I visited Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and India ending with Maldives. Then 6 months later I visited China, far east Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azeribaijan, Iran and Tajikistan.

I noticed one thing India´s infrastructure is beyond poor perhaps worst infrastructure and worse then mountainous Nepal. I was surprised by Bangladesh as having the best infrastructure in South Asia by a landslide most people have no idea how well Bangladesh is build.

Pakistan is second it has great roads and especially Islamabad is beautiful perhaps one of the most beautiful cities I have visited with the way nature and infrastructure is mixed.

But overall as soon as you enter from Indian border Pakistan surprises you it has good infrastructure in comparison. I was kind of surprised by even the tiny details such as the gas stations, motels, restuarants, large clean roads etc etc the Infrastructure is much better and everything was clean and people were extremely chill which adds to the beautiful nature and good infrastructure people arent in your face but they keep distance and just chill overall.

I was just like this guy when I entered Pakistan from India and the place I loved most was Baltistan it has many beautiful district and valley´s with gardens each one better then the other.

Islamabad and/or Lahore don't not constitute Pakistan. 80% of Pakistan's infrastructure especially it's financial hub and the biggest city Karachi housing around 30 mn dreadful souls, is on par with sub saharan Africa, as is the rest of Pakistan outside of Islamabad and Lahore. This author only saw a small sample from pakistan. India's overall infrastructure is much better than Pakistan's.

Fully funded scholarships by Government of India for Sri Lankan nationals

High Commission of India, Colombo is inviting applications for around 200 fully-funded scholarships for Sri Lankan nationals, across various levels. These scholarships are being offered for studies in prestigious Indian Institutes and Universities across subject domains but not including Medical/Paramedical, Fashion Design and Law courses. The scholarships offered exclusively for Sri Lankan nationals are for 2024-2025 academic session.

1. The schemes under which these scholarships have been offered are:
   
   a) Nehru Memorial Scholarship Scheme: This scheme covers Under Graduate/Post Graduate & PhD courses in various domains such as Engineering, Science, Business, Economics, Commerce, Humanities and Arts, among others.
   
   b) Maulana Azad Scholarship Scheme: Masters Degrees courses with preference to Engineering, Science and Agriculture.
   
   c) Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Scheme: Under Graduate courses in specifically in the field of Information Technology, leading to a Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Technology.
   
   
2. Each of the above schemes covers full tuition fees for the entire duration of the course, monthly sustenance allowance, and annual grant for books and stationary. In addition, air fare to the nearest destination in India and an annual grant for educational tours to various parts of the country, apart from several other auxiliary benefits are also offered. Selected candidates would also be provided hostel facility inside the respective campus.

1. Government of India selects meritorious Sri Lankan nationals for award of these coveted scholarships. Selection of candidates is done in consultation with Ministry of Education, Government of Sri Lanka. Necessary details will be available on the website of Ministry of Education atwww.mohe.gov.lk. Interested applicants and their parents are advised to approach the High Commission of India, Colombo ([email protected]) or Ministry of Education, Government of Sri Lanka to learn more about eligibility criteria and selection procedure.

Increasing Numbers of NRIs Choosing to Return to India in Retirement​

An increasing number of non-resident Indians (NRIs), who left India decades ago in search of better opportunities, are now returning to the country's warm embrace in their sunset years.

A recent survey by SBNRI, a FinTech platform, shows at least 60% of NRIs in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, and Singapore are considering returning to India after retirement. The survey reveals that 80% of NRIs based in Australia and Singapore, 70% from the UK, and 75% from the USA consider returning to India as part of their retirement plans, followed by 63% of Canadian NRIs. The research also indicates a significant number of NRIs have already started investing in India to support their decision to relocated post-retirement.

India’s rapid digital transformation, a rising middle class, improving infrastructure, better lifestyle, cultural familiarity, stable financial system, affordable healthcare and growing economic heft coalesce to create an irresistible appeal for retiring NRIs, who left a very different India in their youth.

India’s emergence as a retirement destination is also underpinned by its rapid progress towards achieving developed nation status, coupled with its resilience during global crises, and medical advances; all of which have helped reshape the retirement landscape of the country.

We highlight four factors, or reasons, fuelling the trend of NRIs moving back to India to spend their retired lives.

Yes but this is not on the same population scale as BD.

Dhaka-Chittagong accounts for 20% of BD population.

I understand your point, but let's take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Even if we assume those numbers are accurate, 20% of Bangladesh's population is still less than 3% of India's population. So, when you consider that the Government of India is investing in multiple projects of this scale, it's clear that the scope of development is significantly larger.


And let's not forget the ripple effect these projects can have on surrounding areas. We're talking about new economic opportunities, jobs, and infrastructure development that can transform entire regions. Those benefits are just as important as the initial investment itself.

It isn't, anyone who thinks this is true after seeing pockets of development in their cities are in fools paradise. None of the countries in the region have the industrial scale or capacity to build proper railways whatever this guy's "infrastructure" word play mean. This is not to dunk on our neighbours but no you're still decades behind.

But what India need is more cities around Delhi Mumbai (*cough* Kolkata), develop the coastal cities.
As a radical option move the Capital from Delhi to any coastal region of Odisha.

I can also agree with this to some extent.

However the fact that India is so large and a lot of the population live well away from major cities Like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata etc will mean that they won't get the best infrastructure.

This happens in all countries where the more dense population wise a country is, the more "per-capita" infrastructure is available.

Not at all saying that the infrastructure in a lot of India is not good and should be 'world-class" in 5-10 years just like BD.

PS - The urban population in 2023 in India was 37% when compared to 40% for BD, despite the fact that India has had higher GDP per capita for around 50 years now and so has higher wealth than BD.
