LRT Jakarta Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai Completed in 2026, Initial Operations in 2027​

Jakarta- The extension of the Jakarta LRT route for Phase 1B of the Velodrome-Manggarai is targeted to be completed in 2026. LRT Phase 1B operations are targeted for early 2027.

"We are optimistic that this project can be completed and operated in early 2027. Our hope in the third quarter of 2026 can be enjoyed by the public," said the Director General of Railways, Risal Wasal, in a written statement, Wednesday (26/6/2024).

Risal said the progress of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai was in line with the target. Until the second week of June 2024, the work on Phase 1B of the Velodrome-Manggarai has reached 18.147%.

In this phase, a 6.4 km line has been built with 5 stations consisting of Rawamangun Station, BPKP Scout Station, Pasar Pramuka Station, Matraman Station, and ends at Manggarai Station.


"The presence of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B will complement the integration of transportation at Manggarai Station so that later when the long-distance train stops at this station, passengers can directly continue their journey to Kelapa Gading using the Jakarta LRT, by taking advantage of the walkaway from Manggarai Station to the Jakarta LRT station," explained Risal.

The Jakarta LRT will be operated with a 10-minute headway time. It is expected that passengers will increase to 80 thousand per day gradually for the Velodrome-Manggarai crossing.

The Jakarta LRT route will still be developed in Phase 2A with the Kelapa Gading-JIS, 1C Manggarai-Dukuh Atas, 1D Dukuh Atas-Pesing. It also includes routes 3A and 3B which will complement the Kemayoran-JIS-Kelapa Gading-Velodrome-Klender-Halim route.

"We continue to encourage economic centers and community activities to be well served by public transportation modes, especially train transportation modes, so that people can carry out their activities more easily, safely, quickly, and comfortably," said Risal.
