PT PAL Indonesia Brings Advanced Marine Defense System Technology to Indo Defence 2024Jakarta (11/06) - PT PAL Indonesia (
@PTPAL_INDONESIA) brought advanced technological innovations to the Indo Defence 2024 Expo & Forum, at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
The innovations are in the form of Autonomous Submarines and Combat Management System (CMS) for warships. "This is PT PAL's latest development in building Indonesia's maritime defense strength," said PT PAL Indonesia Marketing Director, Wiyono Komodjojo.
Wiyono said the development of autonomous submarines was carried out independently by PT PAL, with a TKDN/local content value above 50 percent. Autonomous submarines, he continued, are a tactical solution in answering the needs of underwater defense systems.
"Saving logistical supplies and no need for extra support," said Wiyono, while emphasizing that autonomous submarines are combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
Regarding the CMS, Wiyono said that the development of the combat management system for the warship was PT PAL's effort to strengthen the defense ecosystem. This, he added, is in line with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, regarding the independence of the defense industry.
"We must reduce dependence on imports. Because if we import, there are many restrictions on access to usage protocols," said Wiyono, who also said that the development of the CMS was carried out with strategic partners. "This is purely a CMS produced by PT PAL," he said.
Both innovations received attention and appreciation from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. He also asked PT PAL to accelerate the development of autonomous submarines and CMS. "There must be acceleration," said the President to the Director of PT PAL Indonesia, Kaharuddin Djenod, while reviewing the booth of Indo Defense 2024 participants.
In addition to bringing technological innovation to the development of autonomous submarines and CMS, PT PAL also showcased other superior ship products, namely the Merah Putih Fregate, Landing Platform Dock (LPD), Multirole Support Ship (MRSS), Hospital Auxiliary Ship (BRS) / Hospital Ship, and Scorpene Submarine.

Indonesian shipbuilder PT PAL has unveiled a new naval combat management system (CMS) that it has been developing for the last three years.
The system, which will be formally named by the country's President Prabowo Subianto at a later date, was unveiled at the Indo Defence 2025 exhibition in Jakarta.
Speaking to
Janes at the event, the general manager of PT PAL's SEWACO (sensor, weapon, and command) Division, Enjud Darojat, said the CMS was developed in-house by its engineers and software developers, in response to a suggestion issued by Prabowo.
“Unlike CMS systems developed by other Indonesian companies that have been done in collaboration with foreign contractors, the CMS built by PT PAL is developed fully in-house and we own the source code,” said Enjud in response to questions from
Janes .
“As such we have full control over what the CMS can do now and in the future,” he said, adding that while PT PAL received help from external advisers for the development, the company maintains full ownership and control over
