A total of four Maung tactical vehicles (rantis) were exhibited in the main weapons system (alutsista) exhibition in securing a series of activities for the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan, Saturday (17/8).

The Maung that was exhibited was the latest type, namely the MV3 Mobile Jammer which is equipped with a drone jammer as a weapon. The four Maung units were placed at 4 points, namely the Paspampres building, lake, medical center, and flag hill.

The third generation of Maung is the creation of the 2024-2029 president-elect Prabowo Subianto which is produced by PT Pindad. After the success of the first generation, Prabowo continued to ask for various innovations and improvements to the tactical vehicle.

Finally, PT Pindad launched the third generation of the tactical vehicle which has the main advantage in terms of a tough body in maneuvering in various extreme terrains.

"The initial concept of Maung was indeed initiated by Mr. Prabowo. The Pindad technical team outlined the innovative ideas proposed by Mr. Prabowo in the form of design, development of tactical capabilities to mass production," said Director of Technology and Development of PT Pindad Sigit P. Santosa in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Vice President of Innovation and Product Development of PT Pindad Prima Kharisma revealed that the Maung MV3, which is part of a contract from the Ministry of Defense, has a number of soft kill and hard kill weapons installed on the newest tactical vehicle.

"The hard kill weapons on the Maung and the Silent Paralyzing Weapons (SPS) are Pindad innovations, while the Jammer drone installed on the Maung and SPS is the result of collaboration with PT Sapta Cakra Manunggal," said Prima.

He also explained that the Maung MV3 armored vehicle was designed as a mobile anti-drone system that is capable of neutralizing drone threats quickly and accurately.

"This vehicle is equipped with a drone jammer as a soft kill weapon and a 12.7 mm SM5 A1 heavy machine gun (SMB) as a hard kill weapon," he explained. The Maung MV3 is also claimed to be able to provide reliable protection with a jamming radius of 3 kilometers using the soft kill method and a destruction distance of up to 1.8 kilometers using the hard kill method. "Equipped with a 4×4 drive, this vehicle is capable of operating on various types of terrain, both on-road and off-road," explained Prima.

The Maung MV3 itself has technical specifications with a length of 5,085 mm, a width of 2,165 mm, a height of 1,995 mm, and an empty weight of 2,100 kg. This tactical vehicle is also capable of a turning radius of more than 7 meters, equipped with a turbo diesel engine, with an 8-speed automatic transmission, maximum power of 202 PS / 3800 RPM (199 HP), and maximum torque of 441 Nm / 1600-2600 rpm.

Meanwhile, the innovation of anti-drone weapons with the name SPS-1 to support the security of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in the IKN is capable of neutralizing drone threats with a soft kill method by closing control access at a distance of 500 m and is destructive at a distance of 150 m. "SPS-1 is operated by one personnel. This weapon is designed to follow current technological developments and is the result of adjustments to user needs," said Prima.
