Indonesia to Arm KRI GOLOK Trimaran FAC with Atmaca Missiles

At the Indo Defence 2025 exhibition in Jakarta, PT Lundin (also known as North Sea Boats) showcased its 62-meter trimaran fast attack craft, which is now expected to be outfitted with Turkish-made naval systems.

The vessel, launched in 2021, was commissioned by the Indonesian Navy in 2022. However, it currently operates without combat systems, and the outfitting process will proceed based on the Navy’s available budget.

While the initial plan was to arm the vessel with the Norwegian-made Naval Strike Missile (NSM), company officials told Naval News that it will instead be equipped with the Turkish-made Atmaca anti-ship missile developed by Roketsan. This change reflects a shift in the armament configuration, aligning with the broader integration of Turkish systems across the platform.

The ship will be also be fitted with two Aselsan-made 12.7mm remote weapon stations, likely from the STAMP series. Aselsan will also provide the fire control and electronic support systems, though the specific models have not been disclosed. Most of the navigational systems are expected to be supplied by Aselsan as well. All systems will be integrated to the HAVELSAN ADVENT combat management system.

According to the company the trimaran FAC features a “wave-piercing” hull design that allows it to cut through waves rather than ride over them, improving seakeeping and reducing motion. Its wide beam contributes to inherent stability, minimizing pitching and rolling, which supports more effective operation of onboard weapon systems even in rough sea conditions. According to the builder, this design enables the vessel to maintain higher average speeds in adverse weather with increased comfort and operational safety.

Stealth characteristics have also been incorporated into the vessel’s structure. The design reduces radar, infrared, acoustic, and magnetic signatures. The hull lacks reverse-angle bow overhangs commonly found on traditional designs, which can reflect radar energy. Key systems including weapons and the vessel’s 11-meter high-speed RIB are either concealed or shaped to blend into the superstructure. The wide deck area also allows for helicopter operations.

The vessel is intended for a variety of roles including EEZ patrol, anti-piracy, surveillance, and search and rescue. It is built using carbon fiber foam sandwich construction with resin-infused, osmosis- and fire-resistant vinyl ester resin. With a displacement of 230 tons, the ship has a draft of 1.2 meters, a top speed of 30 knots, and a range of 2,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 16 knots. Propulsion is provided by four MAN V12 engines (1,800 HP each) coupled with four MJP 550 waterjets. The platform supports a crew of 30.

August 9, 2025

PTDI continues to expand the scope of its Aircraft Services (ACS) as part of its business diversification strategy. No longer limited to military aircraft maintenance, the company is now actively reaching into the general aviation sector while deepening its presence in commercial aircraft maintenance, targeting a broader market segment and a wider variety of services.

The company is increasing its efforts to capture opportunities in the non-military aircraft market, including offering new livery paint services for various private jet types such as the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ), Gulfstream G450/G550, and Embraer Legacy 600/650. These services can be further developed to include additional work based on customer requirements and specifications.

In the commercial aircraft segment, particularly narrow-body types, PTDI recently completed painting work, seat replacement, and several other upgrades, including cabin refurbishment, on an Airbus A319 belonging to Timor Leste’s Aero Dili airline. Currently, in PTDI’s Bandung hangar, major maintenance work (C-Check) is underway on an Airbus A320 owned by Citilink Indonesia. This project is a collaboration between PTDI and GMF AeroAsia.

“This collaboration not only opens opportunities for ongoing work on similar aircraft in Citilink’s fleet and from potential new customers, but also drives an overall improvement in PTDI’s capability list,” said Daud Zaini, Head of the Maintenance Division at PTDI’s Assembly and Modification Center.

This initiative is also part of PTDI’s strategy to position its Bandung hangar as an integrated MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) service hub, serving not only military aircraft but also commercial and general aviation sectors.

With this expansion, PTDI reaffirms its position as a strategic partner in the national and regional aviation sectors, while strengthening its contribution to an integrated and sustainable aerospace industry.

PT PAL Completes Repairs and Modernization of 41 Indonesian Navy Warships

Surabaya (ANTARA)
– PT PAL Indonesia has completed the repair and modernization of 41 warships belonging to the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) that are still in active service.

PT PAL Indonesia’s President Director, Kaharuddin Djenod, explained that the repair and modernization works carried out included maintenance, repair & overhaul (MRO), mid-life modernization (MLM), and refurbishment.

“We ensure that the combat readiness of the Indonesian Navy fleet is maintained at an optimal level,” said Kaharuddin Djenod in Surabaya, East Java, on Friday.

He noted that with decades of experience and the application of international quality standards, PT PAL Indonesia is not only capable of building new ships but also maintaining the life cycle of the country’s primary naval weapon systems (alutsista) to ensure they remain resilient and modern.

“Mastery of MLM and Overhaul (OVH) technology marks an important milestone for Indonesia’s defense self-reliance,” he said.

The MLM project on KRI Malahayati-362, the successful overhaul of KRI Cakra, and the refurbishment of 41 KRIs stand as proof of the reliability of Indonesia’s engineers and technicians in executing high-standard work on both surface ships and submarines.

This capability provides a strategic advantage for Indonesia’s defense: it reduces dependence on foreign parties and minimizes the risk of embargoes or political obstacles that could potentially disrupt fleet operations.

In addition, from an economic perspective, domestic execution saves foreign exchange, employs local expert workers, and encourages the growth of domestic component industries.

“This company has become the cradle of Indonesia’s maritime technocrats, who play a direct role in strengthening the nation’s maritime sovereignty and self-reliance,” Djenod stated.
