Iran Economy

One of the main sources that leads to 1979 revolution was land reform and it's impact on Iranian people.

Shah started land reform in early 1960s and transform Iranian culture with it. after thousand years of different models from slavery to peasantry(ارباب (رعیتthen we went towards private ownership models.

at the end land reform was an half baked plan which resulted in corruption in Pahlavi's governments.

For example :

On January 17, 1981, the lands belonging to Asadollah Alam, the Minister of Court of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, which had been confiscated after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, were distributed among landless farmers in the city of Kashmar. The Central Headquarters of the Seven-Member Land Allocation Committees announced in a statement that the total area of the distributed lands was 2,187 hectares, along with 10 qanats (underground irrigation channels) and three deep wells, which were allocated and divided by the Seven-Member Committee of Kashmar among the landless or smallholder farmers of the region.

Comparison: Industrial Agriculture

For context, industrial farmers in the US or Europe might grow enough wheat on 2 hectares to feed far more than 4 people (possibly 20-30 people), but that is monocropping (growing only one thing) using heavy machinery and chemicals. The goal of a family farm is diversity and sustainability, not maximum single-crop output.

Conclusion: With smart planning, good soil, and hard work, 2 hectares is not just enough—it is an ideal size for a family to achieve a high degree of food independence.

Above is DeepSeek answer to question of is it possible to feed family of 4 with 2 hectares of land?

So in Mr Alam's case alone he could provide food for 1000s people with that 2100 hectares even with old tech and farming methods.

In a society which almost half of women were illiterate and price of education in villages was an egg and/or bread per week !
