Irán must finish North south corridor. It would help to export from Russia to South Asia and also from China to Russia and vice-versa. Chabahar Port is working increasingly more.

Interesting how Iran is resisting US and EU pressures turning the point of interest to the East.

Iran, Tajikistan sign four cooperation agreements to enhance ties in key sectors

Iran and Tajikistan have signed four cooperation agreements to strengthen their relations in key sectors, including energy, labor and social welfare, technology, and railway transport.

Iran’s First Vice President Mahammad Reza Aref and Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda put their signatures on the documents in Dushanbe on Thursday.

During a joint press conference after the signing ceremony, Aref called for the implementation of the agreements as soon as possible.

He also noted the two countries enjoy strong political ties.

"The shared positions of Iran and Tajikistan on regional and global issues, as well as their cooperation in regional unions, are promising for the development of bilateral relations in all fields," he added.

Iran's MAPNA building 3,000MW power plant in Basra
Mapna, the Iranian industrial group has been awarded the engineering, procurement and installation contract for the $2.5 billion natural gas-fired power plant project in the Rumaila area of Basra, Iraq.

Work has started after 18 months of negotiations with the Iraqi government.

The plant is expected to add 3,000 MW of electricity to the Iraqi national power grid.

The Rumaila combined cycle power plant contract follows the successful implementation of Najaf and Baghdad Al-Sadr gas power plants, Mapna said.

MAPNA Group received a final acceptance certificate (FAC) for the permanent delivery of the 10th gas-fired unit of Iraq’s Rumaila Combined Cycle Power Plant on April 27, 2024.

MAPNA Combined Cycle Power Plants Construction and Development Company (MD-2), the subsidiary in charge of the project, is carrying out the mega project.

So far, MD-2 has received the FAC for a total of 122 units with an aggregate capacity of 19,025 megawatts inside and outside Iran.

MAPNA Group is responsible for design, procurement, transportation, installation, and commissioning of the 3000-MW power plant, located on the outskirts of Basra in southern Iraq, in ISO conditions.

The megaproject is defined in four phases: The first phase of the project includes construction of six gas-fueled units that run on MAP2B turbines, homegrown turbines designed and manufactured by MAPNA.

An efficiency of 34.6 percent has been set for the units, to be increased to 36 percent twelve months after receiving the provisional accreditation certificate (PAC).

Phase two of the project includes construction of three E-type steam cycles, HRSGs (without supplementary firing), ACC cooling system, and BOP (balance of plant).

Phase three of the Rumaila Power Plant project also includes construction of six gas-fired units running on MAPNA Group’s MAP2B turbines.

The initial efficiency of Phase three simple cycles stands at 34.6 percent. The figure will reach 36 percent one year after the provisional delivery. Phase four of the project includes construction of three E-type steam cycles, HRSGs (without supplementary firing), ACC cooling system, and BOP (balance of plant). Upon completion, the plant will include six 500-MW combined cycle power blocks in Rumaila, in vicinity of Basra, Iraq’s second largest city.
