US just compromised Taiwan, Ukraine for Israel. Russia is not doing any special thing for Iran cause it makes it easier for Russia to counter Ukraine when focus is on Iran.

And unfortunately, due to the failures of Iran's own policies, it does appear like a binary choice. Despite all the great human and natural resources available to Iran, they face such a binary. I hope they choose wisely. They may not have real friends in the global community but they certainly have plenty of well wishers for them.
