I don't think Iron Beam can intercept ballistic missile warheads

Iran has missiles it didn't use in the last war either because it was caught by surprise and Israel successfully blocked the entrances to the main SSM bases in West Iran or because they were not yet in mass production (e.g., Qasem Basir and the new 2000kg warhead missile tested the day before the war)

Mashhad is 2400km+ from Israel and close to relatively more secure Turkmenistan borders. the Binalud mountains are a great place for underground nuclear facilities, as well.

indeed. IRI was naive and believed since the nuclear scientists mostly held public academic roles (and were not part of a current nuclear program) they would not be targeted.

the replacement commanders found a better location that Israel was not able to locate/attack, and the US did not attack the new, deeper nuclear site at Natanz, and no underground missile base was penetrated or destroyed (only the entrances were temporarily blocked) - this is encouraging. but many lessons must be learned and changes made.
