Iran - Israel/US War: Israel-US declare war on Iran, Iran responds

This source here says at first there will only be a limited strike targeting IRGC heads, but currently to stop the "Death by a thousands cuts" and "salami-slicing tactics" by the US, even a small strike would mean full-scale war and Iran will immediately target all US forces in the region with the intention of wiping them all out to remove the threat to Iran

i like what you say, but I would need to see it happen for believing it
I am still not sure if Iran will actually do it, ir needs lot of guts to go after american assets
Of course IRGC will do it; we are talking about retaliation or start of the war here, right? Not preemptive strikes or anything.

Why does Iran need to have "lots of guts" to go after American assets when the US is the one firing first? If they don't shoot back to destroy the threat it will be Iranians that will be the ones dying, so they will fight back to ensure more US soldiers will be killed than Iranians.

because they didnt do it last time either, and they showed restraints
So its kinda hard to believe,

Last year, Iranian officials chose to deescalate and avoid war.

But judging from the seriousness of the situation now and the fact Iran just survived a Coup attempt last month, they'd treat any US plans as "Existential" and fight this with the intent to inflict maximum damage.

Iran has been resupplied heavily by China and Russia for the past 7 months, so let's see what they have up their sleeve. I think they're not just given radars or AD missiles, but some other fancy stuff that can aid in the sinking of a US aircraft carrier.

You are the one clutching at the straws.
I had suggested that the tit for tat arrangement the Iranians and the Americans did could be another way out and that arrangement was restricted to one on one strikes and the situation defused. I, of course, did not refer to the events before that. I spoke in good faith about how to defuse the situation and you brought up the 1000 dead from the previous days.
Our posts are still there for others to see. I don't think I edited mine and if I did then maybe minor typos/grammar.
Why are you hoping for any kind of kinetic action that could kill people? By even referring to midnight hammer you inadvertently did refer to the 12 day war, and you wanted a similar situation as before. Maybe you didn't intend that but it didn't come across the right way. A better way to diffuse the situation would be some sort of deal, surely.

If we were going to be invaded by the US anyway, we should have withdrawn from the NPT back in June.
That would have allowed Iran to preserve a powerful diplomatic card.
It would also have opened the path to genuine security and independence through nuclear capabilities.
Khamenei now appears to be deliberately losing, handing the country over to the pro-American faction.
His decision to promote Larijani—whom he barred from running in the presidential election—to second-in-command at this late stage can only be interpreted that way.
It's the same as Assad handing his country over to terrorists without a fight.
He's possessed by defeatism.
Why are only the reformists trying to stage a coup?
Why are the conservatives and the IRGC silent? Why don't they rise up rather than face destruction without a fight?

Not true. The actual news is:
U.S. Vice Admiral Fred Kacher has been removed from his position as director of the Joint Staff after only taking the post in December, three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Wednesday.

The way they talk about this means they have way more missiles than the US/Israel side think they have, right?

To be able to attack such a large target bank while overwhelming Patriot defenses could mean Iran has more than 5000 ballistic missiles of various types and ranges?

I have confirmed that the news of the dismissal of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who opposed the attack on Iran, is true.
Now, do you still think Trump is seeking peace?
With preparations for war this complete, what is the Iranian leadership thinking as they desperately pursue negotiations?
