My assessment is that they believed if Iran’s defense systems intercepted the attacks at night, it would be clearly visible on live TV channels. That would not create a good impression for the Americans. So they chose daytime, thinking that if any defense system stopped the missiles, it would be less noticeable and receive less media attention.

Iran never had any political influence over HAMAS. HAMAS allied with ISIS and fought Iran and Hezbollah in Syria. Turkey and Qatar had political influence over HAMAS.
