I agree it would have this sort of effect. And this would be to Iran's advantage. Iran doesn't depend on an open Strait. Its enemy does. If Iran is all-in, then they should be truly all-in with whatever chips and levers they have.

The optics matter also. If USA now resorts to ground invasion when they had originally planned a 3 day max decapitation victory, then ALREADY Iran has forced their hand.

Maybe this is Iran's strategy and everything else hitherto is designed to draw them in. Who knows?

Certainly, any wet dreams of monarchists and kurds of a local rebellions should be crushed quickly as these are zero value enemies - nobody in the west will bat an eyelid for 10k dead kurds or monarchists.

I think Iran knows its limitations, has planned for this, and is quietly exerting control over the escalation chain.
