This is what happens when you have to fight a nation with an actual credible military.

I said this in the Russia-Ukraine war thread when that war first began:

'The days of superpowers having the capabilities of quickly winning wars against middle powers is over.'

Defense tech, especially in the realm of drones, has made it nearly impossible to quickly win wars against middle powers. The US, just like Russia, is incapable of swiftly defeating any power in the top 20 military powers in the world. Any war would be quickly spiral into a war of attrition, as we've seen in Ukraine and now Iran. This is something superpowers cannot tolerate in the long term.

The US has lost this war, and now its desperately looking for an off ramp, something Iran is no longer willing to offer.

The US's global presence, especially in the middle east is now irreversibly damaged. The gulf Arabs have now seen that the US cannot be relied upon, so they will now look towards alternatives.

The rest of the world, especially nations like Japan and South Korea are looking at the US and thinking "Well, there goes our so called reliable partner", and are now ramping up domestic defense industries, and realigning their global alliances. They're no longer confident that the US will come to their defense.

The days of the US being the sole hyper-power is now over. I expect the US economy and military to be irreparably damaged in the long term, as the US economy stagnates and has no choice but to make cuts to its military capabilities.

Trump has now guaranteed China's position as the top power in the world in the medium to long term.

Undoubtedly, China is reaping the benefits. As the West, particularly the United States, attempts to contain China's influence, they increasingly find themselves further from achieving that objective. China is growing from strength to strength.

A nation always requires a strong air force. While I agree that the odds were against Iran. Largely because the Americans and Israelis have aligned. An air force remains an absolute necessity for establishing aerial presence. When coupled with a robust arsenal of missiles and other strategic assets, you have the complete package.
